Morgan Stanley CC 3% cashback NOT BEING HONOURED

  • Eagle - Its just that what the FO say on their website about "no reply" complaints is very different to what I was told when I rang. In any event, the subseqent reply from and potential developments with MSG mean that this is no longer a course of action in my case. I also cannot see MSG saying, "Sorry, we are unable to pay you your cashback. If you wish to take the matter further, please contact the FO" as their final reply.

Chihuahua - Give MSG another ring and explain the situation. The first-line CC person will probably give you the "it will be OK on your next bill" line, because that is what they are told to say. If they can do this for me to "break the spell" they can do it for you. For credit scoring reasons, it is actually a good idea not to generate statements with no usage on them. Unfortunately, in our exceptional combination of circumstances, it suddenly becomes a bad idea.

I received my statement in the post, it was still incorrect.

However, checked today online and the cash back amount is now correct.

Woohoo! I've just done my regular online check and the cashback total is now £15.19, which matches my calculations exactly (even allowing for a CPA, which arrived just after the end of the introductory period and was at 1%). We are getting there!

I called today and claimed my initial £15 cashback. I asked for it to be credited directly in to my account. Only £4 cashback left to make up before I can claim the next (and final) £15 with them.

Thanks Stephen :T - finally sorted and £90 of the £94.48 they owe me has now been used to pay off this months account - don't think i'll bother with the last £4 as i'll have to spend a fortune to make it up to the £15 denomination they insist on
the whole thing has been far too much hassle and taken months - will be closing this and my goldfish card pronto.
Hope the rest of you get your money soon :D
  • I am glad that I could be of service.

I am still waiting for my cheque for £15. However, the corrected statement has only just been produced. I trust that I will not now have to go begging for it: after all, I have already requested it - on 24 July.

I got my initial £15 as a credit to my account. Almost immediately (the next day I think!), I got a letter in the post from MS saying they're confident that my complaint has been sorted, blah blah. I have been offered no compensation.

In any case, when I collect my next (and final) £15 cashback, I will be voting with my feet.
  • Woohoo! Guess what arrived in this morning's post - my £15 cheque! Good things come to those who wait - and chase up every now and again.

Applied for my next and final £15 cashback from Morgan Stanley Floating-goldfish and this has appeared on my online account today.

I've also just filled in the card application form for CapitalOne 4% cashback card with no annual fee. I've got a response back saying I've been accepted and it also gave me a reference number (which I've written down).

As soon as I've got my Cap One card in the post and the Morgan Stanley is cleared, it's going to get cancelled, cut up and thrown in to the fish pond ;).
  • Morgan Stanley Goldfish: they always remind me of the beginning of the TV series "Porridge". I also note the irony in the initials MSG because, just like monosodium glutamate, to much of them gives you a headache as well.
