Morgan Stanley CC 3% cashback NOT BEING HONOURED

Following Martins advice for cash back credit card a month or so back I applied and received a Morgan Stanley CC. The initial cash back is 3% on purchases within the first 3 months and then 1% from month 4 onwards. All went well until I noticed that Goldfish (now running the Morgan Stanley Cards) are applying 1% only. No problem and simple call to fix - three calls over a month and several promises and still nothing has changed. I call again today to be told that it should be fixed but they have no idea when. To me this stinks and is starting to sound like a scam of sorts
Martin I followed your recommendation on this one!!

The introductory 3% deal was always on the basis that it was the normal 1% deal, trebled for the introductory period. There is evidently a problem with getting the statements to show the 3% amount.
If you just make it clear that you are claiming your introductory cashback at 3%, all should be fine. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I've been having the same problem, so I've resorted to putting my complaint in writing. I've had the standard holding letter stating that I'll receive a full response within 28 days.43580

Same sitauation here too. Have been chasing them for 2 months now to honour their 3% promise only to be told each time to ring back in a week and the matter will have been looked into. After ringing yesterday was advised that all will be sorted by my next statement - which gives them another 4 weeks grace! Being sceptical of their promise to fulfill, I have now put together a letter of complaint and advised them they are breaching trading standards. Have given them 2 weeks to respond before I take the matter further.0

I too am seeing 1% applied to my online statements. I'll hold off complaining yet, although MS have it coming. As soon as I get my first £15 cashback, this card is going to get cancelled. I will be getting myself a CapitalOne Platinum cashback card which seems the best alternative right now.0

I am furious!
I have just spotted on the latest statement that my cashback anniversary has been altered from August 2006 to January 2007!
I was looking forward to getting my cashback to pay off the mortgage before my remortgage in December (and likely rate hike!)
Anyone else spotted theirs changing?
I have sent an email to them tonight asking for an explanation. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Indeed I have exactly the same issue, 3% introductory cashback not being honoured for months 2 and 3. I have been phoning customer services every month since February, they are blaming "IT" problems, promising it will be fixed by the next statement...
By the way, I noticed in the previous thread confusion about Morgan Stanley / Goldfish. Morgan Stanley bought Goldfish from Lloyds TSB, have migrated Goldfish to the Morgan Stanley standards (eg monthly statement, bank sort code for payments), but are now using the trading name Goldfish for all their UK activities.0 -
Angelavdavis, I have the same problem, I was due my cashback in june this year and it is changed to june '08.
Can we do anything about it?
I noticed it is since goldfisher to over.0 -
Don't really understand what you mean by cashback anniversary being changed.
I must admit I have never had any problems with M/S with regard to the cashback being applied to my statements each month. I took out the card in January and for the first three months got the 3%, but of course have been on the 0.5% for some time now. Have just requested by first cashback payment and they said they will be sending a cheque shortly. Surely this card doesn't have a cashback anniversary, they just pay you on demand when you have reached £15 or multiples thereof in cashback.
Am I missing something?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Usually every year we get our cashback annually and mine is june.
All the statements predating june said cashback date june'07.
Suddenly, after goldfisher took over, in my july statement it said cashback date june'08.
Luckily I have all my old statement so I am going to write to them to find out why, seeing it said when goldfisher takes over everything remains the same.0 -
The anniversary date seems irrelevant, you can claim the cashback whenever it is in a multiple of £15. I had rung up £90 in the first four months and just called them up to credit it to my next bill - no problems. This was pre-Goldfish though.
Offtopic, I am ditching the card now anyway after they reduced my payment window to two weeks, and so losing a further £10 I've accumulated, but it's not worth hanging around to to get up to £15 on this 0.5% rate.
From the amount of feedback about this card on here it looks like this was a good deal last year but has gone steadily downhill for many reasons.0
