How much can I expect to pay for 4 new tyres?

Tyres on the rear don't work as hard unless it's rear wheel drive, you always want your best tyres on the front.
Yeah, well that's not what the tyre manufacturers say.
Best tyres on the rear, as controlling understeer caused by the front pushing wide is easier than controlling snappy oversteer caused by a loss of grip at the rear*.

Car passed it's MOT.
Got 3 advisories - tyres slightly cracked at the sides ( all tyres had about 3-4 mm thickness so that wasn't a problem). Said the tyres had never been changed so was due to age. Also said a couple of my brake discs were pitted but fine for now.
told them I would go elsewhere for any work that needed doing and they were fine. No high pressure sales at all.Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

While this topic is going anyone know if any firms are doing 2 for one offers i need four tyres 205/55 R16 91V
Or any offers going at the moment.
Their price includes fitting, nitrogen filling, balancing and swapping round all 4 wheels (tyre rotation) if necessary.Sent from my abacus.0 -
Nitrogen filling.... Doh...
Air is already 78% (ish) Nitrogen. They claim the oxygen leaks out and not the nitrogen so surely your tyres are already Nitrogen filled because the oxygen leaked out.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Yep. Roughly 20% oxygen on the first fill, then 4% after the first top-up, 0.8% after the second and 0.16% after the third. At 20p per top-up (or free with your own pump) that's a 99.84% nitrogen fill on all 5 tyres for 60 pence
Now that's MSE :beer:0 -
You pass your test last year and you don't know how to measure or check your tyres... isn't that one of the question & answers you should have learnt as part of the driving test?0

Ugh, I know how to check them but I was unsure and wanted a second opinion. I'm so sorry to have failed the system! Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016
