Just rescanned and everything seems ok now. on and up to date and both green with white tick. Yes I think you told me what to do on my laptop once. I ll try and do it for him on his PC. Anything else I need to do thanks much appreciated lol

EDIT: sounds like you have some malware -> gives you problems when you download ANYTHING.
You need to download the following on a DIFFERENT computer, copy to a USB stick, run on the zoostorm (unless anybody else has a better idea!?!?)

Don't always get an error when downloading things as I managed that player one and that works. It's just there are so many options for the same thing and I never know which one to use. He d like windows media player can he have both on there?0 -
I have to do some work... but looks to me as if there's an issue downloading and/or installing programs - may be an indication of malware. You need to get the malwarebytes program onto a usb stick.0

Well thanks for all your help. I won't download anything else for now. I ll have to find out about usb sticks .msee I've never needed to use them on the PC s I've had. Ps I told him what you said about him messing me around0 -
I'm surprised you are having issues with AVG.
I've been using it for years, on everything from 98 to 8.1.
Never had a problem with it.
Where exactly are you downloading it from?0 -
FYI, appears to be download/install issues; "loses desktop" after installing these. Defender is running ok. Downloading malwarebyte gives an error.
I have suggested getting malwarebytes from another source on usb...strange one.0
