Blank screen on 2 month old pc

Hi husbands new pc has got a blank screen now and I don't know what to do to rectify it. He was pestering me to do something and avast wanted to do a security scan. It did that then there was a full screen of writing but the mouse stopped working. He had to switch the pc off on the pc itself.

When switching it back on the word Zoostorm comes up and the option to sign in happens which he does but instead of it coming on it seems to swipe to the side and he gets a black page. Can anyone suggest how to get it working properly again please.

Hi I've tried pressing down f8 and I've tried continually pressing f8 on and off and that does nothing. Is f8 the key I need please. It's a windows 8.1

press alt+ctr+del and go to task manager and kill the programme that is running , then (if that works) report back for more info on getting red of spyware

Odd. You say the signon screen comes up, you fill it in and then goes blank (EDIT black?)
But you do Ctrl-Alt-Delete and somethings comes up!?

well that's good , however there is a programme called "Zoostorm" running , I have to go out , hope someone else can continue to help

Perhaps a resolution issue or perhaps it thinks its connected to a projector. Try pressing Windows key +P twice (that is keep hold of the Windows key then press P twice then let go of both).

Hi there. Yes I sign in and instead of it coming on further it goes black and no other option but to switch it off. Hubby reckons this is the same thing that happened when his other pc stopped working but at least this goes to task master etc. I ll try it

When I do that 4 options come up, pc screen only, duplicate, extend and second screen only. Extend looks like it the one that it's on should it be pc screen only ? What else can I try please
