Mumto5 sorry to hear that, it's a horrible feeling but the others are right; don't give him too long to use you as the scapegoat.

All yes totally sickened by that poor pilot's fate.

Currently totally p****d off as I reluctantly chose to do the training webinar this evening rather than flower club. Poxy sound didn't work. I tried other sites and the sound was fine; emailed organisers and they apologised. Sat there actually almost in tears; stupid thing to get upset about but think just the last straw of recent events and as everyone said, pilot news just tear-jerking at the thought of it. Take a deep breath and do something worthwhile.

At uni today, a bit cautiously as we had snow overnight but the roads are fine and there was less in Hatfield. Early getaway as last student cancelled. Got home and Mr N had been a complete flyman and changed bed, tidied, washed up, filled bird feeders and done one wm load. And defrosted one freezer by taking drawers out onto patio in snow then used hairdryer in freezer! I offered to work full time if he wanted to stay at home. Today is the 3rd day he has felt 'significantly better' so maybe he'll start putting on weight.

    Tonight I need to:
    - finish pay claim
    - check spare room & bathroom for guest arriving tomorrow
    - organise food for next 2 days, already got meat out of freezer
    - pay Visa bill
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Livingroom, hall Almost all done by DS1 and DD, which is quite good enough for me.

DfE inspectors in tomorrow, have just stopped preparing or won't sleep.

Love, hugs, sticks and spoons to all our lovely flyladies, and a special extra hug for those who could really make use of one.

(((Hugs))) and posivibes to Mumto5 x

Thank you bossy and everyone for your kind words. I am pleased to say that my friend moved out of hospital today and is very comfortable in the nursing home. She says the food is up to restaurant standard and very tasty - she hasn't eaten much for months, so it must be good! All the staff have been very kind and welcoming, and I think she will be well looked after there. Her son is visiting her tomorrow with his partner.

My flying today has consisted of unpacking and putting away her clothes and phoning about a dozen of her friends to give them her new address.

Will go and watch some TV now - but definitely not football! - until DH comes home from model railway club.

Good luck for tomorrow's inspection, serena.

Serena big hugs for tomorrow, I know how stressful it is and yesterday's announcements by Mr C cannot have helped. You are great, you will be fine, please don't stress (says somebody who was reading RAISE at 4am the morning of ours).

Bossy hugs, hope you enjoy the panto.

Narco, glad Mr N is on the way up, gives me hope for Mum who has zero appetite.

DS3 birthday tomorrow, just need to write his card, one present to wrap and he wants a shop cake so I need to pop out tomorrow and get that.

    Tomorrow's flying:
    Wash bathroom floor
    Dust last bedroom
    Hoover and mop downstairs
    WMx2
    S&S toilets and sinks
    Pay garage bill
    Contact builder about invoice
    HHPaperwork
    Street party letters/emails
    Governor emails

If I get all that done around walking with one friend and a cuppa with another I'll be very happy.

ETA Ionafan so happy that your friend has settled in.

Had a busy day today, didn't touch my paperwork and DD didn't get to do my nails but we did sort out her paperwork, and what we found out was very interesting.

DD has an appraisal on Thursday, and is currently at loggerheads with her boss. She is doing an apprentice for hairdressing and is doing her NVQ2 which will be completed this April. After this she wants to specialise in Bridal Hair Ups, but her boss wants her to do NVQ3, which only touches on hair up basics. DD has looked into it and found a course which she is willing to pay for herself (£300 upwards) and has informed her boss of this (after her boss told her no such course existed). She wants to eventually go mobile and do wedding fayres so she can do bridal hairs (all party) be with them for the full day if wanted
    .
After going on gov.uk today and then phoning them, we found out that her wages go from £2.73 per hour to £5.13 per hour when she's 19 in March. Then if she did her NVQ3 after April, her wages go back down to £2.73, her boss has never mentioned this to her, which we both think is underhanded, not giving her all the facts.

So the fact that she didn't want to do it before she knew about deduction in wages, she definitely doesn't want to now.

Sorry to go on, but this really has annoyed me, she hasn't been fair since day one!

Rubies.. I doubt her boss is under any obligation to keep her on should she not 'do as she is told' so regardless of the wages issue, which I agree is utterly underhand, it may be that if she doesn't do the NVQ3 she will be out of a job entirely... My sister had a similar issue at the end of her first year and the salon she was working at just told her not to come in any more. The employers also, so I am told by a salon owner, paid to have trainee's once she is no longer a trainee there is a chance they will replace her with another 'free' worker. Could she speak to her course leader assuming she has some college contact at the moment? and if she wants to come up this way I have a waistlength mop of unravelling string she might want to try taming ;)

cuppa and bed for me I think.. I've run myself ragged this week.. I LOVE AF she imbibes GUAG into me and I can move again.. my hands are useless my hair is a mess I need to lose about 1/3rd of my body weight butmy house is unveiling its floor very very very slowly!!

  • I know what you are saying Pigpen and I have said to her to say to her boss that if she feels the need to let her go, that she understands and there are no hard feelings, and to remain calm and keep her head held high.

To be honest, I do expect her to go. The salon consists of the boss, my DD, a beautician and another stylist/beautician and talk of getting another apprentice in September.

The thing is the other stylist/beautician is currently serving time in an open prison, and while I understand that this is part of the getting them back into the community, I also know she doesn't have to pay to have her, she actually gets paid to have her, and has deducted her full time beautician hours and wages because of having her

She holds no loyalty to her staff, so I think she will end up walking as soon as she stops being an apprentice whether it be level 2 or 3.

I am a strong believer in fate, so what will be will be, but thank you so much for your words of wisdom :)

Would she not be able to do both courses? the NVQ3 and the wedding do's? I don't know how intensive each course is but is it a possibility even if it means extra hard working DD for a year? It doesn't sound like the kind of place she wants to be forever and is a means to get her to her destination.. Good luck to her whatever she decides.. <3 It's so hard not being able to sort this stuff out for them and have to watch them go through it all by themselves.

OH feeding cats and making tea, I'm looking at kittens that need homes... I am, according to my daughter, kitten broody lol .. my lot are 15, 6 and 4 now so just boring! They sleep and pee and eat.. and trample of my clean laundry and sleep on my cat racks (heated airer)

Also had confirmation from last week's assessment that she is happy with report, so printed it and put it in an envelope with an invoice.
