    Good morning everyone

and welcome to scubaleopard and rachelle :hello:
Congratulaions JockettUK what a lovely surprise for you! Like you I was determined to give my daughter a Scottish name even though she was born in England. So, Eilidh it was. There was mention on the daily thread not long ago (sorry, can't remember who the poster was :o ) about a poor wee mite who might be lumbered with the name Conyack! The mother didn't realise that Cognac was an alcoholic drink.
JackieO fabulous news on your scan results. :j
catowen well done on your win. I noticed that you have already updated your sig. ;)

Well, the joiner turned up on time and so far has been great. He has just popped out to pick up the doors that are going to be fitted today. I need to go out but feel that I can safely leave him here on his own. What a relief.

I don't have much to do today - can't do any housework anyway as the joiner is in every room doing something or other. So, I will probably potter about and do some reading. I realised last night that I am currently reading four (yes, FOUR) different books. :o So, I plan to finish at least two of them today.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday. xx

    :j :j jockettuk:j :j congratulations!
Jackie O - glad to hear the scan was good.
    :hello: Newbies!

Still not a lot of water coming from the taps :( The toilet cistern did fill up overnight so OH got me all excited....by saying we could have a bath today.....then I got sensible and realised we couldn't. Oh well.

Up LOADS of times in the night. Twice to let a cat out, once because I wanted the loo, once because OH just WOULDN't stop tossing and turning (don't know why he was awake) - then was just getting back to sleep with SeniorLady-cat curled up in my arms, when Postie rang the doorbell and jolted me awake  . It's a VERY loud doorbell, and she always stays finger on it for ages ( it takes time to walk down 3 flights of stairs when you are half-asleep). Mind you, PsychoKitty now has a Whiskas kitten pack (4 pouches of food!) so he's happy.

Had to smile. Rubbish truck arrived outside, and PsychoKitty looked interested. So I stood at the window holding him and showing him - then realised grandmother across the street is holding her 2 young grandsons doing exactly the same thing :)

Not sure of plans today at all. Hope you all have productive ones!
  • LOL at showing kitty the rubbish truck - they are like kids to us aren't they??

Off here for now - everyone have a great day!!

Update on house....found out that solicitor hasn't yet put the solution to abbey and is holding out for a better offer from the vendors. He told them that the offer isn't good enough and that a better one is required.

Just when you think that things are all sorted out.....
Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.

    Morning all,

I haven't been posting much on the daily lately because I have absolutely nothing interesting to report, but had to come on today to say...

Jackie O, I'm deligted to hear your good news! :j :j :j I still marvel when I read your posts each day that you are so positive!

Jockett, Congratulations! :j :j I know it's a shock now (our last one was a surprise baby brought home from a holiday:D ) but he really has been one of the best things to happen to our family.

Scubaleopard and rachelle, welcome! You'll love this thread.

Today was an early start as, like tired mum said, it's the centenary of Scouting and ds along with all the local scouts celebrated by climbing the hill outside our town to watch the sunrise. Then back to a church hall for breakfast. He really enjoyed it!

I went back to bed but was wakened by dh getting ready for work, then just drifted off again when ds called to say that he needed picking up, so I'm shattered.

I've promised the little one that we'll go out somewhere today, but the clouds are coming over now so it may have to be somewhere indoors. Just made the filling for a lasange for tea so all I'll have to do when I get home is put it together.

Just had a text from HariboJunkie (who is looking after our brother's children this week) to say that my neices and nephews are driving her nuts.....better go and give her a call to see what's up. Can't wait to see her next week!

    Have a good day everyone.

CATOWEN - RE: itchy head; a friend of mine had to take betnovate for a while and it made her head itch - her GP said it was one of the side-effects.

Well, I've taken the dust container off the hoover and poked around at the hole with a screwdriver and dislodged some fluff and the inside of a pen, but was too scared to do any more. It's lying in wait outside the back door for my big BIL who will be here with his family at about 12.30. If he wants feeding, he'll have to earn it first! Honestly, what a wuss I am! My DH would say 'it's only a spider, for heaven's sake!' This is the man who gets me to dispose of wasps and dead fish heads (another story!).

I see we're all naming woodlice. Here, we call them 'daddy-grandfathers'. Here's another one: plimsolls - we call them 'daps' - any advance on 'daps'?

Postie's been (and quite a handsome one in his shorts - probably a holiday relief so I shan't get too excited) and had delivered all the photos of DS1's Lake Garda wedding but I just haven't got time to go through them yet. I'll save it for this evening. I just know I'll cry all over again!

Anyway, I wasn't going to come back on here but I've just been up to the postbox and thought I might have missed something, because I was gone for fifteen minutes!

Weather is brilliant! Hope it is for everyone else.

See you later - I'm going to see if I've time to go to the gym before my visitors arrive so I'd better get a move on.

Anyone heard from Queenie? I pm'd her ages ago and haven't had a reply. Hope she's OK.

    Hi Odd
I put my pics on Photobucket.com & the link is on my profile, it's fairly simple to use, (it must be if I manage it!)
    Hugs Hester

  • Well after pulling the bed apart to look for the spider as mentioned VERY early this morning gave in to temptation at 6.30 and went back to bed. Of course then fell into the most wonderful slumber so only just woke when the phone went off and I was pretending to sound wide awake.

SO now instead of being miles in front of myself I am now miles behind - but do I care?

Anyway I thouht, in a paranoid way I must just check to see if anyone has welcomed me. So now I am sitting here with a lovely warm feeling and a smile on my face.

However I have decided I must immediately withdraw from this site because I am suffereing from addictictive disorders in my 2 fingers already. But before I leave forever how do you put smilies in quick replies-- not that I need to know of course.

    We call woodlice woodslicers.

    Welcome to Rachelle.

    Now where is that duster?
