Take a look at Searles Camp Site in Hunstanton. The site has everything (even a beach) and a Tescos on the door step:j Having said that the Camp Shop is reasonable.Panda on My Shoulder
If you can make it cheaper do so. If it's not reduced, in Primark, off ebay or free I can't have it :rotfl:0 -
3 sleeps and counting - just cleaned the van - oh the joy and tonight I'm going to go through all the posts and cut and paste the ones I'm using. Thank you all so much - I will keep you all posted. Anyone with any new ideas - there is still time!!

Hi IDA - just to say - stop apologising - you are having a modest break to re-fuel - you are entitled to it and I hope it goes really well. I live in the north and we have had fine weather for 10 days so I hope some of it flows over into North Wales.
When we were kids, we were quite poor and my parents scraped the money together for a modest week on Golden Sands Holiday Camp near to Rhyl (expect it's been condemned by now! - it was in the 50s!). We did lots of walking, picnics etc. and had a great time. Our main expense was paying for those funny double bikes we used to ride around the site!
When my own children were small, we used to caravan - I'd pack the minute fridge with stuff from the freezer and not open the door for two days - the "instant" stuff was packed in cool bags - I took loads of food from home.
Now I'm retired and single and not in debt, thank God, but not well off either so I always read everyones tips about saving money. I think if you've struggled during your life you never quite believe you're not still struggling!
I'm sure you'll have a great time - I distinctly remember taking the old "charabang" (coach to you young 'uns!) up the Great Orme - God knows how the old bus got up there, but it did! Let us know what sort of time you had when you get back!

Tindella is right, Ida, you should stop apologising.
Point is, if you were in debt, not dealing with it, running up more debt to go on holiday (put a holiday on a credit card! - shock, horror) then I would be up there throwing brickbats, but then, you would not be on this site in the first place!
As so many on this thread are saying, you can do a holiday on the cheap, as you are looking to do. My parents were not in debt (thanks to Mum, also credit - known as the never-never - was much harder to come by back in the dark ages (50s)), but with 6 kids they were desperately hard up. Our holidays were good for all of us and as I said before, full of happy memories, especially now I am an orphan  (OK, I am 58, dad's been dead for years, but I felt like an orphan when my lovely mum died 2 years ago, so there.):(
Hope the good weather we are currently having extends to North Wales and that you have a great time.0 -

Thanks for all your kind words, it really warms the "cockles of my heart"! Just looked at the forecast and I don't think the good weather is going to hold, but hey ho hols are hols and we have our wellies and waterproofs! In true British style we will have a good time whatever the weather.
Still got a couple of days so if anyone has anymore tips or can tell me what the Alice in Wonderland Museum is like I'd really appreciate it. Many thanks...
love and hugs

Sorry IDA can't help about Alice in Wonderland .... however it has just given me an evil punishment threat for the boys (9, 12 and 13) if they misbehave while we are away!!!
