Today I think we are going swimming. It is getting to be quite a habit! Need to get littlewing sorted on some swimming lessons though - she loves the pool and would enjoy it even more of she weren't such a plank in the water.
DH has gone to work, so I have tidied up and got some washing and the dishwasher on.
Am back in bed with a fruit platter and crumpets for breakfast. (Fruit platter sounds so wholesome - am really enjoying the apricot).
Got on the scales today and have now lost 9kg in total since I started monitoring. I say 9kg but it does fluctuate. Still, it keeps me motivated. I can get up off the sofa on leg power alone. I can bend and pick things up without thinking about it. I can run away from spiders more quickly. That is my biggest revelation about being fitter - that I can do physical things without consciously thinking about how or having multiple attempts. I felt really heartened in my class last week as I made a passing comment to Mr Instructor that I couldn't do something and he said, "It will come." What a lovely little statement that is - nice and optimistic and no perfectionist pressure.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Do you lot reckon that saunas would be good? I can't remember of we have discussed it on the thread before. There is a sauna room at our local swimming pool. Perhaps that is the next thing to be brave about. (I assume you aren't naked - don't think I'd be ready for public nudity quite yet).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Well done Pyxis for sorting things at Am Dram.
Just remember, you are better off without that sub group. Glad it went ok.
Code, I too am on anti epileptics (haven't had a seizure since I was 15, touch wood) and my memory is awful. I can literally forget something in a split second. They also make me quite tired too.
Melly, Alan is cute!
Whitewing, well done on the weight loss! :j No idea about saunas though sorry, never tried one.0 -
Bit of a bad night here sleep wise, in other words, I just couldn't drop off and so am really tired now.
It would have been my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary today. They always used to go out for a meal. It's not just a big wedding anniversary, but her first one without my Dad.
She said she couldn't face going out for something to eat as it would be too upsetting. So I suggested we take sandwiches and soup and go and park up at the foot of the mountain where my Dad is, and that made her happy.
But of advice needed guys. I never did get them a card or a present for any anniversary. Do you think I should get something for this one? Not only because it would have been a special one, but because of the situation? Something like a ruby necklace perhaps? Or not? I don't want to do something that'll potentionally upset her. I know with my Dad not being here, they never actually made it to 40 years, but they weren't far off, and we're acknowledging it, so what do you all think?0 -
I would get something ruby-themed, even if it is flowers, balloons and a ruby-themed picnic. I wouldn't get a card.
You could maybe make a heart shape from stones at the base of the mountain, and put both their names in or something and take photos. Something that is temporary that you wouldn't expect to be there next time you go.
Do something to mark the day out - it is a special day in its own way. But don't feel you need to try too hard. Just being there together is special in itself - anything else is a bonus.
I think ruby necklaces may be a bit difficult to magic up at this short notice.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Agree with Whitewing -

Maybe a bit of a red theme for the picnic, tomato sandwiches washed down with ribena - that could raise a smile, every one is good.Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0 -

I agree about the card, I wasn't going to get one. I've saw a necklace in town, and it was just a thought as it would have been something to mark the occasion, and unlike me, she loves jewellery! She's a very sentimental person and that's why I thought it would be nice to get something, but yeah, I think I'll skip the necklace.
Good idea about the flowers! Don't know why I didn't think of that! She loves them and always has vases full of them.Solarjunkie wrote: »Agree with Whitewing -

Edit....hang on, if you know she'd love the necklace and the sentiment, why not get it for her!(I just lurve spiders!)

Most people would look at that and go 'mmm cake!', I look at it and go 'mmm lovely fruit!'....I think my cake gene is missing!
How are you feeling today after last nights Am Dram Pyxis?0 -
Have a lovely day, georgie. I think ww's suggestions are fab, too xxxx
Pyxis - what can I say? I am such a passive aggressive wimp about sorting things like this out. I am simply in awe of you! Well done on sorting it, and you have come away the bigger woman
We have a big family 'do' today too - wish us luck as I think it's going to be quite a long walk for Mr JM!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
