Morning all! Here we go again for the wait for the building insurance people!
MU, you have my hairstyle in a wig! I can't dye my hair anymore because of psoriasis so I bought some bright pink hair extensions. I figure I will start of subtlety with one at the side and work my way up.
The cake looked amazing and I missed it! Someone will have to make another one so I get a piece!
My last hamster was like Gitdog particularly in reference to the cold and warm mornings. If it was cold I could pick him up still in a ball, he completely refused to open his eyes or acknowledge I was there. On warm mornings he would sleep stretched out on his back or front and when I picked him up he would just flop and refuse to alter position. I have been considering asking the new landlady if I could have another one but I am not sure that I can cope with losing one again. My last one lived for 30 months which is very long time for a hamster. He was very unique and I was heartbroken when he died. He knew his name and did tricks when he felt like it, he would beg for food on command, go to the other end of the cage when requested so I could clean each half, taught himself to use one of his houses as his bathroom (so much so he would carry his poo and put it inside) and therefore kept the rest of the cage spotless and sat on my shoulder while I walked around.
He was never nocturnal and went to bed when I did and got up when he heard my voice as long as he wasn't cold. He also loved baby rice pudding and buttered toast. Everytime we had a roast dinner he would have his own tiny version including yorkshire pudding and eat it all immediately. Chicken was his favourite, a lot of hamster owners don't realise they are omnivores and eat insects (and errr bits of other hamsters sometimes) in the wild, they love meat and it is good for them. I still miss him, if only they lived longer...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

He sounds amazing WaS! I could see him starring in a series of children's books0

I've had lots of hamsters - they are wonderful pets. I always think they look like tiny bears. Mine always shared my breakfast porridge
I've also bred a couple of litters. Baby hamsters are even lovelier, and very funny to watch. When they get big enough to use their exercise wheel, they all want to get in at once, facing both ways so it won't turn. Once they get it going, there is such a heap of hamster that individuals keep rising to the top of the scrum and tumbling out.
My old dog adored wet weather. she would sit yearning out of the window until I put on waterproofs and walked her through wind and storm.
I have to go to the shops today, with the lady from MInd, but without my husband. Wish me luck!0 -
I think you'll have a great time, Stoodles - delighted to hear you are working alongside Mind.
I used to run a great Mind project (I didn't design it, so can't take credit.) It used paid people (paid a fiver an hour at the time) to do ANYTHING legal honest and decent with our clients. We did do everything, as well, from dragging people off the loo (when they were stuck there with their OCD, at their request) to taking people abroad for a holiday!!!!!!!!!!!! (Obviously the person who went on holiday wasn't paid a fiver an hour for the whole time, but it was quite demanding on them and the client got SO MUCH out of it. A real boost to their MH, increased self esteem, far higher functioning in loads of things. But you'd never get funding for things like that, nowadays.... even though I truly believe it saved the NHS loads of money, you could never demonstrate it!!!)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
That does all sound great JM. Wonder how many projects like that are still going.
Stoodles - good luck0 -
He sounds very special and very clever WaS! I certainly didn't realise that they could eat so many different foods!
Good luck for today Stoodles, hope all goes well.
Love the wig MU! I used to have a big streak at the front of my hair in that colour! Didn't think about work when I got it done so had to permanently wear a headband!
That's sounds great JM, shame the funding isn't there still.0
