  • Hope you are asleep now, dragonette!

Hello, Stoodles! Yep, still up here and will be all night! This isn't that unusual for me because I have an odd sleep pattern anyway but I could do without the tidying up, of which we have achieved nothing other than to pour some more tea and start the second packet of biscuits.

I understand that pills may not be the best idea for you. Have you ever tried sleep techniques? They work for me sometimes with varying degrees of success. If you can manage it try laying down and relaxing, even if you read or watch tv. Just allowing your body to rest can help a great deal the following day. A therapist told me that, even if you can't sleep the act of laying down will recharge your body as long as you can relax.

I like baking bread. It fits into my requirement to be able to do a little at a time. I seem to get overwhelmed on the days I try to cook if I try a whole meal at once. If I can do it in stages that works better. Collect the ingredients, then go and sit down for while, go back and prepare them, have break, put them together and ideally stick them in the oven and set a timer.

OOps - originally wrote sick them in the oven. Was that a Freudian slip?

I was at the stage where circular thoughts were taking over and I needed to get up and break them. Generally I stay in bed and sleep returns after a couple of hours, but sometimes I know it won't work or be wise.

I've missed the insurance story - is it OK to ask why they are coming?

The insurance saga has been ongoing since January. The block of flats I live in were sold to a new landlord. I have no idea how the old landlord got away with it but when it came to getting landlords insurance the new company said no way. Hence the entire block has been practically remodelled by this stage, we have had people fixing things for months. Today and tomorrow the insurance people come back to see if the work has been carried out adequately.

I see - so it's not a claim, and not even your business. Frustrating to have to do all that for someone else.

I thought you might have been making a claim. We had to do that recently for a flood/ceiling/carpet and I was amazed how reasonable and helpful all the assessors and the insurance company were
  • Aw, I am glad to hear that! No, this has nothing to do with me whatsoever. I am just the one who has builders, fire alarm fitters, electricians, builders, window fitters and several trades I have forgotten visiting weekly since January. Hopefully if the insurance company are happy this is the end of it!

    I wish you peaceful silence
  • Hahahaha! Thank you, it is exactly what I need! The fact that I absolutely hate anyone coming into my living space and am as paranoid as a giant paranoid thing hasn't made this easy. I have hope of an end in sight, though!

Well weren't you lot chatty last night?! :D

Hope you all managed some rest at some point... and that you're all able to have a relaxing day today.

WaS - I always seem to get stuck in that 'worse before it gets better' stage of sorting. Most of my house is fine, as clutter freaks me out. But the spare bedroom is an exception! It's definitely going to get worse when FOH finally starts shifting his stuff. He's away from this evening to Sunday, but the keys from his rented place are available from friday. So far I think the plan is that he gets them on tuesday and moves next week/weekend..... but I'm not convinced he will.
