Anyone who wants to be here is very welcome. :)
Did you maybe write and then not hit the post button properly? I know what you mean about the anonymity, I used to fret about that as well. Any way of changing some of it, but still getting the important bits in?

Calley, re the driving, those seem like the types of thought patterns that might respond to CBT. Has that, or seeing a psychologist, ever been suggested to you?

I also have a couple of other issues such as fear of contamination and the need for things to unplugged and doors are locked.

It niggles me and I have to go back and check. Which it turn can make me late for things. And thats one thing I hate more than anything is being late.

The door thing has been noticed by a neighbour as he asked me how was the poor door handle. I laughed it off. But was mortified that someone had noticed it and had said something.

I'll try again - I'm not running away from anything more. I originally typed something about

I see you are all late birds. I'm the odd one out , my brain shuts down at 10pm prompt, though I can;t always stay asleep all night. Last night I had a nightmare and shouted myself awake. Normally my nightmares aren't reliving, but this had an element of it, I'm quite pleased I shouted rather than freezing into passivity as I did in real life.

WaS - can you say that you agree it would be distressing for her sons to see her in any state of undress, and she s being very kind and protective to save them from it? That you think they would be grateful to know how thoughtful she is being? Would she agree to you explaining it like that?

I should hate to see my mother unclothed. I was worrying just yesterday that she may not be able to get carers when she needs them as I live next door. I don't touch people, so couldn't be any use for anything but domestic tasks.

Black and white cats rule the world. I've had series of them, though currently I have a tabby with an eating disorder and a giant ginger. (This is the identifiable bit - if you know me, please tell me so)

Calley, would you perhaps consider having some refresher lessons with an instructor in a dual-controlled car? That way, you could get your driving assessed, which will, hopefully, reassure you that you're not driving dangerously? There may even be some instructors that specialise in people with driving fears.

An alternative would be to have a driving assessment with an advanced driving instructor, in your own car. You could explain your fears, and he/she could then see if your fears are groundless. They may also have some tips about the getting angry thing. I had an assessment about 4years ago, to see if I'd got into any bad habits, and I picked up some good tips!

Stoodles, did you preview your post? A couple of times I've done a preview, forgotten that isn't the actual post, and gone off to another thread. Then it appeared my post had been deleted, but actually, I hadn't submitted it! Could that have happened with your post?

Edit. You're not the odd one out! I'm very much an early morning person, even though I may not come on here straight away! I hate late nights. If I am up late, I still wake really early!

The door handle thing and the driving thoughts thing might be different aspects of the same problem.
Are these things that you want more help with at the moment? Because you're good at explaining yourself in writing, so if you find talking difficult, there's always the option of putting it in writing to you GP, either to send or take with you to an appointment. That way it gives you time to get across how you're feeling without worrying about getting flustered and it coming out wrong.

Calley - how long have you felt worried about your driving, and the need to check things so much? It sounds like a way to express your need for control and safety. It does seem as though it would be worth describing it all to your GP - if your GP is any good. We have such a mixed bag at our surgery. There used to be a lovely MH GP specialist there, but she has moved on

Stoodles - I have loads of times I think I've posted then realise I haven't. Sometimes I press the wrong button, sometimes the computer has a mind of its own. Just one of those things.

You are very right about black and white cats - they certainly do rule the world. Well, P cat absolutely rules in my house :)

Thank you for the kind words about my explaining things. Never thought I was very good a the written word. Might be an idea to do for my counseling next week.

Yes I do want help with all it. As it's hampering my life at the moment. When I should be out there enjoying it. I am 42, 43 in a few months time. And I want to be able to have a nice fun enjoyable life.

I'm such a slow typist too. I'm usually responding to the post before the post before last by the time i've corrected all my mistypes. When I was at school there were no computers, and the head decreed that her top stream girls should not learn to type as they'd then be trapped as secretaries to some man instead of making their own careers!
