Same as you HBS. I've stockpiled some easter chocolate, will be under the duvet watching Life of Brian.

Alpacas! You have to go to the alpacas!

    ...and it's snowing again.

I think I am going to spend Good Friday under a duvet watching my favourite films and sleeping. I'm a bit of a wreck at the moment.

Anyone else got any plans? Feeling nosey :)

No chocolate here, none at all. Unless.....hmmm, some where I have a packet of chocolate covered prunes, but I'm not sure my digestion can take it.....:o

Very jealous of your wood burner lir. There are loads of trees that have fallen around here and they leave them for people to take.

We've got a wood burner and it's a nightmare. I like the idea of it but it's clearly not been put in right - just stinks the house out and doesn't really provide any warmth. Whenever I have tried it I end up having to open the windows - kind of defeats the object lol. Will be taking it out and putting a gas fire in when I have some funds.

Oh yes! I love flying saucers! You can still get them!

I've not seen them for ages. I'm sure we have a retro sweet shop somewhere. Must pay that place a visit sometime.

Ewww... they are a v odd texture. Something about just the thought of them makes my tongue feel weird lol. You can definitely still get them. My niece loves them and she's always throwing them at me as they freak me out... monkey!

    She gets them from asda.

It's my nephew's 2nd birthday on Sunday so we're off to his party but otherwise so real plans for the long weekend, just looking forward to having some time off and relaxing!

My parents have a fireplace and my Dad just loves building lovely blazing fires in it, even if he does get a little carried away and they end up sitting around in t-shirts in the middle of winter because it's too warm! ;) DH works in a warehouse and collects wood from broken pallets for them to burn and it's like Christmas every time he goes around with a bag or 2 of wood scraps, they're easily pleased! :)

I hate our existing one two, But we are having two fitted right now. One in the study, one in the kitchen. The one in the study has a stove top that will heat a kettle, or even take a pot when needed ( Christmas, busy feast days....days when fir is working/studying and home and wants to have soup hot all day.....

The one in the kitchen is an ESSE ironheart, which is a woodburner and single oven stove with hot plates so you don't need to use your oven or kettle etc when its lit unless cooking meals bigger than the oven will cope with.

If your woodburner is stinking the house out I'd suggest something is wrong. Smelling a fire and 'stinking house out' are very different, and the latter does not sound safe at all IMO. Our existing woodburner started to smell just as our hearing went in last year, my guess is our flue needs replacing. :(

We wanted open fires almost through out but its just too difficult to meet building control on this and the fires one is allowed now are rather small. Its been a compromise, but I think we've done ok. I dislike compromise, and I think this has been a good and productive exercise for me in 'happy' compromise. :)
  • Metalswan! Hello my friend, big hugs! It's so lovely to see you post, I know that took a lot. I am so glad to hear that good things are happening in your life, I often think about you. Made my day to see you post!

Hope the builders aren't causing too much upheaval, LIR! you have my every sympathy.

WaSp is addicted to flying saucers, he has two packets currently. He buys lots of retro sweets, rhubarb and custards, fizzy cola bottles and white mice, too.

I am jealous of you all with your wood burners. We have no heating at all, not even working radiators as the last landlord stopped them working for some reason. It is another thing on the new landlady's fix list.

This is the last day for the electricians to turn up and no sign of anyone. I wish people would turn up when they are supposed to, now I have no idea when they might appear which means I stay anxious for longer. Other than that, everything is fine. I have decided that I am going to attempt a Simnel cake for Easter. I have never made one before but it looks simple enough. If WaSp supervises me to make sure I don't do anything stupid I think I can do it!

Good luck WaS. Please post photos to show us how it turns out.

We've just booked our summer holiday so now I am

    a) skint
    b) panicking about being a chubster and getting my fat butt to the gym.
    c) realising I need a new gym kit for said fat butt but too poor to buy one.
