dragonette - there's always someone here (well, within reason, you know what I mean
) if you need someone to lean on. I think sometimes we don't recognise the strain that supporting others can put on ourselves. Take care x.
ps - colouring books sound great. I love colouring in!
WaS - good plan on the icing! Might try that0 -

sorry, am an archaeologist by training so was wondering about bits of ferries etc
I hope this doesn't sound too creepy,I've always wanted to know you better from the few eloquent and intelligent posts of yours I have read. Everything you type makes me think, gosh what a wonderful sounding soul. Fir read arch and anth as his undergrad degree. I have a soft spot for the subjects vicariously.
Well, I was doing the workman rubix cube today, trying to get them in, the dogs out of the way, the cats fed, then coffee made and the cats ( who invariably get through) out of the way, while dog dog is swearing loudly from wherever she is in the house, and kiwi is wheedling to get out to see what's going on.....and I just want to curl up somewhere.
Obviously things didn't go smoothly, but before things went wrong I spotted the errors in the making and the lovely tradesmen were great about correcting them and explained in would put a little time on the job. ( its meant to finish on Thursday).
But they worked really, really hard today and pretty much caught up and I have two hearths in my house now, waiting for the woodburners to go on them tomorrow! One they think might even be finished tomorrow and ready to go. the other, which is heavier and more complicated a thing is the time consumer.0 -
Hi all (waves feeling a bit shy)
Just wanted to pop in to say hello, struggling less with anxiety which was a huge barrier to posting so that's progress!
Sending healthy vibes and warm golden light to everyone, I love this thread and wanted to give something back, hugs or warm handshakes for everyone who needs one.
A bit about me, I struggle with depression, anxiety and undiagnosed OCD and other mental health stuff which I haven't really ever told anyone about (eating disorder and unwanted intrusive thoughts mostly but never act on them) Feel a bit vulnerable just writing that but safe here iykwim. I also have benign joint hypermobility syndrome so spend a lot of time in mental and/or physical pain. At the moment I work 25 hours a week as a support worker and am getting by ok.
My focus in recent months has been to develop something resembling a social life. It's going quite well, I find it hard to make friends and trust people due to past abuse. I have actually got some true friends now and the more I practice being open to friendship the better it is going. I trained as a counsellor but had a breakdown before I finished unfortunately but it left me with a lot of tools to use which has been very, very helpful!
WaS, you totally inspire me! The way you share so openly and honestly and which such understated eloquence. Thank-you, you are a shining star:Aahimsa0 -

Did someone say social life? I remember having one of those once upon a time. Having said that I've just bumped into someone I've not seen for a while who wants to meet up for a drink. I shall follow metalswan's example and jolt myself out of my rut.
Today's useless bit of information. I caught part of a radio programme about old fashioned sweets. Anyone remember flying saucers? Apparently their pre-sweet use was to put medicine in to make it easier to eat. And marshmallows were originally made from bits of the mallow plant and also used medicinally, which is why they're always pink and white - the flower and the root. Must get round to finding the rest of the programme - it's the type of trivia that appeals to me.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

I worded that badly lol. I mean a new person that isn't new but hasn't posted for a bit but has been lurking and thanking...but that's not very catchy :rotfl:0
