Eugh, take it easy HBS. Colds are horrible - you're not ill enough to stay in bed and wallow but you feel awful all day and can't sleep properly.

    Is it hometime yet??
  • Not yet sadly :( have got lots of hot drinks and some Beechams.

Awww hbs. Hope you feel better soon.

Think we all need some echinachea on this thread.

Eta: Is that even how you spell it? Autocorrect seems to think so but that doesn't look right.

I've just eaten a load of chocolate. In my defence, I read that its good for coughs. Mine is at the annoying tickly cough stage, which makes me boak and my ribs hurt.

He seems suitably potty, and I mean that in the nicest possible way, as one pot to another! :rotfl:
That brought back memories! I used to love that ad!

By the way, I keep forgetting to log out when I go out! But sometimes I think I have logged out and then find I haven't!
Sorry if it seems like I'm lurking! :rotfl:

Not that there's anything wrong with lurking, (!), but it's very unlike me not to chip in with something! :rotfl:

Anyway, off to AmDram for the evening!

The landlord needs to come into my flat on Thursday to run a fire alarm check with an inspector. An hour after that an electrician will be coming in to check sockets so all furniture has to be moved away from them. Shall I just leave the front door open so that anyone can come in at any time? Seriously, this is really wearing me down. I can't handle people in my home (I can't handle people!) at the best of times, this has gone on for over a month. If it doesn't stop soon this is going to make me very ill.

Wasp is annoyed and grumpy, I have reached an almost incapable of doing anything mode and I want to hide all of the time and sit under blankets. Both of us are really sick of constantly having to wait for people and alter our flat for them. Apparently we aren't the only ones, the landlord apologised that sometimes people haven't turned up when they should because people have informed her that they keep having to take time off work. This must be a nightmare for anyone employed. I see my psychiatrist and endocrinologist tomorrow, at least the visitors don't clash with that, I would have been very unhappy if they did!

On a positive side if this had been happening even a year ago I would have been far more unwell by now. If it had happened 10 years ago I would be in hospital. I am holding it together but it is getting harder and harder to do so. Even Wasp is worn down by it. Every week is more disturbance.

Hugs to all the poorlies, I hope Gitdog had fun and I want a huge raven!

Hang on in there WaS, they've got to be getting towards the final stretch by now. And looking further ahead, once everything's fixed you shouldn't need to have anything else done for years. And if it does clash with an important appointment, ask them to rearrange. If other people can do that, so can you. (I'm guessing you wouldn't be happy with the landlord letting workmen in while you're out?) Can you ask the landlord if he's nearly done - a fixed endpoint to aim for might help with the coping strategies.
Gitdog is a happy snoring little Gitdog. He didn't seem as overwhelmed as he does by the countryside so we managed to walk him without his head collar for the first time ever in a new place. He was both fascinated by waves and baffled by them as they kept disappearing, but he wasn't risking getting his tootsies wet either way. I felt that behaviour wise today was a really positive day and that after nearly 2 years I'm finally starting to win. Although that may be tempting fate and I'm going to be ready to kill him again tomorrow.
(Aside from trying to climb on the table after my chips and barking at other customers in a unsubtle request to feed him. But what's a few chips amongst friends? Plus it wouldn't be Gitdog if he behaved himself completely, I'd think he'd been swapped for a changeling.)

Edit - Pyxis, I think I'm permanently logged in. And sometimes whatever device I'm on shows me as logged out when I'm not - must look as if I live here 24/7 sometimes.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Aw, I am so glad that Gitdog (and you!) had such a lovely time! What a well behaved Gitdog! did he get a chip?

The landlady has asked that I be here so she can ask any problems with the electrics we might have. The last landlord did these very cheaply, for example we have no hot water switch, we have to flick a switch on the electric meter itself to toggle hot water on and off. To be fair to her she is only having to do so much to make up for how badly the last landlord kept the building. These aren't even improvements, it is purely to cover her insurance. Wasp who is an electrician believes the whole of the wiring may have to be replaced, he has been saying for years how dangerous it is. I may just go and live in a hotel if that happens.
