JM, that's appalling! A scathing feedback report is in order, plus a letter to Head Office, IMO. £400 for a service and MOT seems really steep, too.
Good on you to take your business elsewhere.
When I was buying the one and only new car I've ever bought, I knew exactly which car I wanted, but didn't want to seem too keen, so that I could negotiate a price. After the test-drive, etc. the salesman wouldn't discuss prices with me until I "knew for certain I wanted this car". In the end there were three of them all telling me to go away and make a decision first. They didn't quite pat me on the head, but all but. He even implied that I would be wasting his time to go into all the prices at this stage!
I was furious, so I went to another dealer, and after asking for a female salesperson, (but there weren't any), the salesman cottoned on to the fact that I'd had a bad experience and was very nice, so I bought the car from them, even though it was very much further away than the previous dealer. (45miles as opposed to about 4!)
I later got a phone call from the receptionist at the first dealer, asking if I wanted to resume the chat about the car, so I told her what had happened , how very unhappy I was with how I'd been treated and so I had gone and spent my not inconsiderable sum of money elsewhere. She was stunned.
I was so livid, that I didn't even take my car there for its annual services for the first four years. Serves them right. I hope he was gutted at his lost commission.
MessedUp, have you thought about writing to Radio Times about your impression of the bipolar programme? They have a very good 'letters from viewers'/feedback section.
You can email at: feedback@radiotimes.com
Or write to Letters Editor, Radio Times, Vineyard House, 44 Brook Green, London W6 7BT
They publish a lot of the letters/emails, and there's a prize for the best one!
You need to give your full name and address, but they don't publish that, just your name and town.(I just lurve spiders!)

Pyxis, just in case you're confused a screen shot is a photo of your screen. Its usually used to send to IT people so we can see what is happening and diagnose the problem. I also use them on my phone to snap shots of recipes from facebook groups. I'm an andriod girl but I think on an Ipad you press the home and power buttons at the same time.
JM, that's appalling service. I'd write to Head Office and complain. I hate being treated like the little woman at garages. Out of me and DH, I know more about cars, and yet I'm treated like I know nothing and charged higer prices because I have a uterus. Not very enlightened.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. How annoying, JM! Why on earth would they service after an MOT? That makes no sense at all! How frustrating for you!
Ugh, take no notice, MU! There is bound to be noise sometimes in shared housing. We get noise here living in flats, it can't be helped.
Computer problems day 2. My teacher friend paid someone to remove the spyware and it's back. He has now asked me to use remote assistance (So that I can control his computer from mine) and remove it for him. I am not sure about this, I am fine ripping into Windows on my own laptop but doing so on someone else's is slightly more daunting! If I mess up he loses everything and will have to reinstall the whole operating system. I have never messed up yet but if I am going to you can bet it would be on someone else's PC...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Could he not just download a free spyware removal programme such as superantispyware and run a scan to get rid of it?0 -
Hello Purpleshoes! You would think this, in fact he had Superantispyware on his computer for a while on my instructions. An idiot from Norton told him it crashes Norton (it doesn't) and he shouldn't use any other removal programmes but theirs. Because they are a company he has followed the guy's instructions to the letter even though it is ridiculous. He knows so little about computers that he follows any instructions that companies give him, he won't listen to me at all if a company advises him against something. He also fell for a scam a while back when someone called him pretending to be from Windows and told him that he had a virus and it would cost him £144 to remove it. He believed it and paid...
If I go through remote assistance I have the programmes installed on my computer that I can then use on his, plus I can manually remove the registry keys is I need to do so. I am just not happy about having this much responsibility for someone's PC and his is now so slow with the amount of spyware/adware that he can't even manage to back up.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I'm not a fan of Norton, Ive spoken about this on other threads. I use AVG free with CC cleaner and superantispyware.
If he doesn't like superantispyware he could download adaware by lavasoft although someone a bit more techie minded could suggest better alternatives maybe.
Would seem to be an alternative that would be less stressful for you and ensure that he can remove spyware/malaware without paying. There's malawarebytes as well and the basic version is free to download.0 -
Very good points. I think that I will try and get him to download one of those. I have Malwarebytes which works quite well. Whether he will do it or not I don't know, Norton have him convinced that anything but their products are awful. I wish I could have reported the guy he spoke to who told him that, it is completely untrue.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I was talking to someone who is very techie minded, they said that out of avast and avg they prefer avast, but Ive always been happy enough with avg, really didnt like norton or bullguard.
Do Norton have an anti spyware programme built into their anti virus software?0 -
Norton have a Power Eraser tool for spyware which my teacher friend tried and it didn't do a thing. There is nothing wrong with Avast or AVG, they work better than some of the paid for versions. When I do use an anti-virus programme I use AVG. Most of the time I keep mine turned off because it slows my laptop (very old model). I do not recommend that and I only do so because I visit the same sites every day which I know are safe, plus I am confident that I can remove anything that might creep on. Plus I back up constantly so really I could reload the operating system at any time without any inconvenience apart from time. I turn AVG on if I go to a new site. I have used Kaspersky on occasion but it is very enthusiastic. Great if you go to potentially dodgy sites but a bit too eager to block for everyday use.
I swear by Superantispyware, so much so that I bought the professional version. It can take care of most things and needs very little memory to run in the background.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Here are the things in my toolbox:
AVG (Avast is also good)
Ad aware
Malware bytes
spybot search and destroy
cc cleaner
These should all be run in safe mode as well, because some malware gets right in there and stops the run. I've cleaned up multiple computers with these but it sometimes takes a good few passes.
I dislike Norton. I'd never install it.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0
