Is it wrong that I created a spreadsheet today to work out how many slow cooker pots of soup I needed to get 'free weeks' of soup today?
I can get eight portions from a batch, and a five day week leaves three, etc etc.
Ok well it made me chuckle to myself today. Up to SFD#8 today. Will update my actual spend totals the next time I sit with YNAB.
Really tired this evening for some reason, it's just come on and hit me all of a sudden so will finish up and get to bed.Feb NST #4

Applemuncher yay to your badge! Also excited that my predictive text now predicts your name!
Lilt very sensible decision, you should get some kind of MSE award for resisting the offer.
Good day today:- cleaning, then gym, tutoring, dog walking and catch up with friend this evening. SFD number 5 securedAlso still delighted about my bank giving me money back :j My contact lense contract is going up again in March so called to cancel as found them nearly half price online (even when paying for a separate eye test) and the lady suggested I come get my eyes tested before cancelling so that I don't have to pay for an eye test for 12 months! What a lovely lady! So going for an eye test tomorrow but will be a spendy day as need to pay for parking, milk and bread.

Hey all,
Thank you so much for your kind words and well wishes for my OH. It was certainly a good thing to get everything checked out, especially as there is a genetic risk of heart disease in the males on his father's side of the family. The 3 hours were worth the peace of mind.
OH was made redundant about 3 weeks ago, which I suppose may be adding to stress that he is feeling. He is currently working at a much lower wage than what he is used to and he is having trouble adjusting, but really trying hard not to spend and accumulate SFD's like us lot. He was always quite frustratingly frivolous with his spending, so I think the loss of such a well paid job has really made him appreciate what a good wage he was on. Here's hoping to some better money management habits forming!!
Thrifty - Great news on your friend's progress!!
Bob - Really sorry to hear about your experiences recently with a couple of meanies on the forums, the majority of us are friendly pleasant folk, so I am glad that you chose to come back! The folk on this challenge are certainly my faves though, I have been following the challenge for nearly 2 years now and have been actively involved for a year and a half (minus a couple of months).
apple - Love the shiny new badge!! :T Speaking of adding to soup, I am guilty of popping a few crisps on top of my soup for that added crunch! French fries are great as they pop and crackle and sizzle! (I love anything multi sensory- haha)
mothernerd - love your DS3's quote- "Don't argue with idiots. It drags you down to their level and they will beat you on experience." :rotfl: So many yellow sticker finds, you are the Master of yellow sticker sourcing! :T
Fmess - Great news about the interest rebate! :j
cupcake-queen - I may also be venturing out at the weekend for some geocaching using the free app on my phone! I love it so much, have not done this for some time so thank you for the reminder!
WelshKitty - Hope your back feels better soon! So frustrating re: lecturers being off sick. Could you ring ahead to find out if they are absent?
I am currently at 5/15 sfds and have spent the best part of my evening in my pjs, defragmenting my laptop (a task I have been putting off for ages, for no reason) and baking banana cake/ loaf to use up my very brown bananas. It smells great (have just got it out of the oven).
I am doing a half day at work tomorrow, not in until 1pm as I am looking after my sister in the morning so that my mum can go out. Have also got a day of A/L on Friday for nothing in particular, so really excited to have some time off work with no specific plans...although may be I should seriously be finding somewhere to move to seeing as the house I am currently in is sold. There is no move date still, so all feels a bit up in the air- eek
Positives for today:
The smell (and hopefully taste) of my banana cake.
My housemate listening to me whilst I off-loaded about work.
Knowing that I only have a half day tomorrow and one more full day until 3 days off! :j
N'night turtles xx:coffee:

crazylady2009 excellent holiday plans and you are making me feel really lazy with all that running.
cupcake queen you have my synpathy, living with a gambler but good that he hasn't relapsed. Some of the women I met were waiting to see if their husbands would go to jail for things they had done to raise more money to gamble and we only kept my house because it was in my name only.
I know what you mean about the cakes. Mum has done all sorts over the years including daleks and ninja turtles. If it was something she had not heard of, she would ask one of the boys to draw it for her. I have also been sent along to help take a wedding cake to the meal venue and helped replace a corner lattice work piece which got smashed (always made extras to cover breakages). One of my aunt's always put me in charge of cutting any cakes that went her way.
Welsh Kitty and Magic Cat I am another Snowdonia lover. I went up Mount Francon (next valley to Snowdon) to study ice age formations, as part of my course and also went down in the old copper mines on Angelsey collecting water samples when we were doing water pollution. We missed out on visiting Dinnorwig (sorry if I have mis-spelled that, I don't have the paperwork any more) power station, due to staff shortages (out course had had 4 members of staff, down to one with a bit of input from someone who had been moved over to teacher training by the time I finished). How annoying about your tutor - I'd be tempted to stay home and try to catch up by myself.
I am considering a day out. The library people bring magazines as well as my books and one has coach trips. There is a trip in early April in that area, including a journey on the Blaenau Ffestiniog train. I know it will be a while before I can walk that sort of terrain but I could look at it.
Apple muncher congratulations on your much deserved badge.
I went to bed late and woke up late and really don't want to do anything. I have to keep telling myself that I did a lot yesterday and now my body wants to rest.in search of free entertainment I went across to the gallery above the library to see if they had anything on or information about forthcoming attractions.
There was an exhibition of paintings by a local art group (thankfully not the most local one - they're dire). Quite interesting and enough of an outing for today -struggled getting home, had a few stops. Have put the bins out as well. So no planning for tomorrow -will wait to see if my body says no or go and act accordingly. Have postponed a change round in the kitchen, will wait for another month's improvements in things I can do.
Today I am grateful for fun for free (and nearly on my doorstep), for delicious easy food based on YS bargains and being able tosee the funny side of things (very dull grey day and was trying to pretend that the trees in the playground were growing out of the roof-tops of the houses across the way).My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Love it, a free soup week spreadsheet :rotfl:
Today should be another SFD. Will need to muster the energy and bake a bread tonight as we're nearly out and I don't want to spend. Might cave in and just buy a cheap loaf, we'll see how I feel later.
Will spend my lunch break listing a few more things on eb@y. It was recommended that I use the German site for my items but they don't have the free listing the uk site has just now, although I better double check that. So I might just try a German title and hope that they come up in searches too. If not I can always relist on the German site later. Got to clean the house from top to bottom today for a house viewing tomorrow. I don't usually bother and let them see my mess but the estate agent has assured me it's an investment buyer so I want to make a good impression to a potential landlord. 7 months of trying to sell somebody else's house is taking it's toll especially as the landlord is an idiot (being polite).
Going to count today as SF all ready as I have no need for anything.

Hiya.
Still on the go, just trying to figure out my headspace just now. So not posting so much.
Have gotten a few more spend-free days so am now up to six!!!!

The only positive of the boiler (sitting waiting for the new boiler man to come) is that it was still below my original credit card total. So I am back above £3000.... but it isn't higher than before so that is a bonus.
:undecided
Spending the day being bored. Currently waiting for the new boilerman (damed if I am going anywhere near that other one again). Hopefully this one will nicer and understand that I know nothing about my boiler.
:embarasse
Once the boiler man has been then it is time to sort out all my direct debits and start filtering them into the other account. OH did his last night and immediately my dad started moaning at me to do the same.
Is it bad that I am really excited about us paying for things together.
Hope everyone is doing okay.

Applemuncher jealous of your badge - want one.
Fmess good news with your interest rebate.
Mothernerd live very close to Snowdonia, can see whole range of mountains from my road. Great place to live, wages may not be the best but makes up for it with the stunning landscapes.
Bought hair dye today, feeling tad better, may attempt it tonight or tomorrow, see how tiring young one is after work. SFD or NSD lost. Got 7/15 in the bag. so not doing too badly.
Got a balance transfer 0% 13 mths at 0% fee danced around the room when I got the acceptance saves me 94 pounds in fees, needed to do tf by next month. Happy turtle.
Grateful for
End in sight for the flu bug.
