Thanks Jojo, just to confirm a bong is still carcinogenic right it's just a smoother hit? I wish Sativex was available more widely as it is in other countries, it is a product of a BRITISH firm yet british people have very very limitted access while abroad it has much greater avilability for those who need it. :(

I think on this issue we are very stuck in the mud and it's sad sick people are suffering for it.

Regarding the plant, the house I go past would have been shut down by now if it was cannabis, the Police around here are very intolerant of growers and have strangled supply, as a result it is nearly 4 times more expensive locally then 30 minutes away in london! Thankfully I never buy it myself.

Bongs are evil. Avoid at all costs if you want to avoid coughing up a lung.

At uni the boys had a giant huka pipe that would pass the smoke through a body of water so we never bodied with bongs and yes from what i could tell when i saw them at parties it looked pretty rough.

Talking of rough and evil one of friends at uni one day showed us normal innocent southern boys what 'hot knifing' was, thoroughly earning himself the reputation that he was a 'dirty Northerner'. :D

I mean seriously who does that? It was like something full blown druggies would do. Argh.

This was still at the point where I didn't drink or smoke anything btw, that soon went out the window after meeting them. I'm still an angel compared to most of my contemporaries though, the things people do is crazy. :o

My friend did cocaine on his Birthday once. The thought makes me want to puke tbh.

    I've been Money Tipped!
When I married my ex, he was 28 and had been smoking since 13, and his parents didn't knoe. I urged him to tell them as everyone else at the wedding knew. He told them a fortnight before we married, they said how disappointed they were and didn't speak to us and sulked at the wedding. Then I realised why he didn't tell them lol!

Glad we are divorced now, as he's just like his mother :D
Never again will the wolf get so close to my door

I had no idea either until I moved to a city, it's very noticeable and smells like raw garlic to me.

  • Clearly you want to stop, and that is the best reason in the world to do so. In fact it's pretty much the only reason you need!
I'd recommend talking to your gp about stopping smoking both cigs and pot, as they'll be able to offer advice and support. Tell your wife you're quitting smoking, that way she'll expect your behaviour to be a bit off.
As you only smoke at weekends you shouldn't suffer much if any side effects. Keep busy, clean out the shed where you smoke so it doesn't smell or remind you of smoking and try to avoid situations which currently lead to you smoking. You might have a bit of trouble with insomnia after the first missed weekend, but after 6-8 weeks you will be absolutely fine and dandy - probably sooner in fact.
Why not set yourself a goal of something you can't do currently because you smoke? Giving blood for example, or if you're sporty you could do a marathon. Something that will give you a sense of achievement.

Personally I don't see any harm in it, have not seen anyone I know come to harm by it and have yet to read a study that shows a causative link between smoking pot and poor mental health. Correlation is not causation etc. But all this is irrelevant - you want to quit, you're concerned it will damage your relationship and you're not enjoying it any more. You have evry reason to stop and no reason at all to carry on. So quit! Post back herr on a regular basis if you want, I'm sure people will be happy to provide encouragement and support - I know I will.
