My mate did this for probably 15 years of marriage until it all kicked off last year. They nearly split up. The weed was causing a lot of psychological issues that existed pretty much the whole marriage but neither knew weed was the root cause (or at least a major factor) - in fact the wife didn't even know he was smoking so much. He's stopped now with help from counselling and they're back on track and its great to see the difference in him. I think he saw weed as helping him relax when in fact it was numbing him from a lot of issues.
I smoked in my younger days and it affected me and likely contributed to mental health issues, I've also mates who had a lot of issues on it.0 -
When my OH stopped smoking cigarettes he stopped with weed as well.
He's a much nicer person, and - BONUS - he doesn't stink anymore. He never realised that he wasn't pleasant to be around when he was caned off his nut.
Sam's summed it up right with the bullet points - plus of course have you thought about how your wife would feel if the police pulled you for it? (I know that's highly unlikely but as it's illegal it's still possible).
From your wife's point of view...if you don't stop you're putting an illegal drug over her and your child. And I know that probably makes you feel bad, but it's kinda meant to

I suppose the legality of it is the Taboo here. I believe it much less harmful than Alcohol and would love to be able to smoke on the weekends in the evening to relax. - Unfortuanatley all the jobs ive had in the last 20 years have been where mandatory testing is a possibility. I have tried it 4 or 5 times as an adult - never as a teen and found it extremely pleasent and felt great the next day.
Alcohol on the other hand has in the past left me feeling ill, embarassed and full of regret for bad descisions after a heavy session. Hence my rarelly partaking anymore.
Its probably best not to keep it from your wife - it will only raise suspicions.
Lets just hope that the government sees sense and legalizes a harmless herb (when used by responsible adults) rather than encouraging us to partake in much more harmful but taxable drugs (tobacco, Alcohol, pharmacueticle drugs)0 -

Well, it would depend on how much you drink, but really it isn't.
Every time you smoke, you are doing damage to your lungs and introducing carcinogens into your body. There is no safe amount.
With alcohol, a very small amount will cause no lasting damage and may actually be beneficial.0 -
Two questions :-
How many people die each year due to Alcohol Abuse ?
How many people die each year to Cannabis Abuse ?
I will give you the answers - source The World Health Organization
Alcohol - estimated at 3.3 million people
Cannabis - Zero
You cannot Overdose on cannabis, however anyone over 18 can go into tesco and buy 2 litres of vodka - drink it and die.
One is a government sanctioned drug which earns billions in Tax revenue.
The other is a plant which alters the state of mind. That has not directly killed one single human. Ever.
Dont forget - i dont smoke cannabis - its just interesting to see peoples perceptions after being indoctrinated by society to view things a certain way without having all the facts.0 -
Yeah. I believe you.
You stink of ganja. It's nothing like the smell of a standard rollie, and as a tobacco smoker, I can smell it from about ten foot away when the person concerned hasn't smoked for days, never mind a non smoker in the same room as you, ten minutes after you've skinned up.
Try trolling somewhere else.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Well you probably smell like dirty socks, as do all weed smokers, so whether she can tell or not would depend on your general smell, which as a weed smoker... will probably be musky, dirty socks. Hope this helps.0

Statistics don't really help people living the situations. Smoking weed can cause mental health issues, its widely known and reported. Drinking to excess is also bad, potentially lethal.
Just because people apparently don't die from it directly (and are you ignoring all the deaths from cancer for smoking??) doesn't mean it is therefore safe to just puff away without thought or consequence.
It's not a competition!0 -

Honestly no you can't. I respect it smells but there is no way in a million years you can smell it on a person days after they've smoked. In my experience it isn't anywhere near as clingy or lingering as cigarette smoke. I don't really smoke anymore but I used to smoke weed in the house of my very anti drug parents when I was younger. The smell would be gone before too long and coming home a few hours after I was done they never smelt it.
As for the legal aspect and the drugs vs alcohol debate, I can't really be bothered and frankly I'm not really sure what the point of this topic is. All I will say is that I don't believe its a good idea to keep such secrets from your partner. If you wish to smoke and shes against this then maybe she isn't the right person for you. Of course after marriage and a child it may be a little late for that realisation.0 -
So, do you have some dodgy dealer drop it off somewhere for you? Does a mate give it to you?
Really... what's the point? Is it you hanging onto that last little bit of something secret/that's yours? Did you have loads of siblings or something lol? Honestly, it's an unhealthy habit, it stinks, it's not attractive, it costs money, it's not like you're getting stoned with a bunch of mates or being out socially or anything, it's you on your own.
Time to break the habit, me thinks. Put the money you'd have spent on it into a pot (no pun intended lol) and spend it on something nice at the end of the year!
