I have claimed £800 from HSBC and received a letter from them saying they will do nothing until after the test case - what should I do?0

My problem is that the Bank for some reason charged me 4p and then £35 overdrawn charge, then £25 for going overdrawn in the month. This is constantly being added to my account each month even though i asked for the account to be closed after i had finished with it. I asked Alliance if my account was on hold and they said no, charges will continue to be added to my account. What do i do? If i wait until the court case is over nest year i'll have over £500 in charges.
Thanks0 -

Hi,
We have gone through the process of making our claim and after much waiting, recieved the banks written offer of payment, along with a letter of acceptance for us to sign and return. We promptly signed and returned the form for the monies to go into our account within the 14 days stipulated on the letter, but the monies did not go into the account as we expected it to yesterday. We spoke to the bank today to find out why the money had not gone in and they said that we should be aware that there is a test case going on at the moment and that we will now have to recieve a further letter to sign, and wait a further 14 days after they recieve it before the money can be paid. They said that the reasoning behind this was that the test case could result in us getting more money, so they had to put that proposal to us just in case we wanted that option. We told them over the phone that we would not want it but still they insist that they must send out another letter for us to sign and return to them. Can they do this, and haven't they now recieved a signature from us under false pretences for something they are now failing to honour?0 -
I am a single parent who has just discovered that in the last 3 months my bank(Barclays) has charged me £90 per month for being over my overdraft. I didn't realise until i received my statement this week which showed £90 charges per month. I had not received any formal letters to tell me that my account was seriously overdrawn. I went to my bank and have made an appointment to speak to the financial adviser for Friday. Last night however i bumped into my ex landlord who told me 4 letters had been delivered to his house and would i pick them up. I did and basically they were all letters from the bank telling me that i am being charged £30 per day (minimum £90).
These letters were sent to my previous address that i moved from 2 years ago.
I have statements every quarter sent to my current address no problem.
should i try and get a full refund from my bank tommorrow. Is my case strong enough? or will i have to wait like I work but don't earn a vast amount. I have already borrowed money this week to bring my overdraft down as i have direct debits going out . and the largest one is due next week. I could still be charged for next month too.0 -

We are with Lloyds TSB and originally made a verbal request & complaint at the branch back at the start of June. The complaint was dealt with (although not to our satisfaction or in complete) they took 6 weeks to repond and we've complaint that the complaint was not dealt with in full so we then as a result had to resubmit our bank charge claim. We've since had a letter from the bank to say that they are considering our complaint and will get back to us.
From my understanding, Martin's guidance is slightly vaugue in this area - as he states that the claim should still be dealt with if we've had a reply from the bank.
Does a letter stating they are dealing with the complaint constitute a "reply"?0
