  • If I claim compensation from the AI compensation scheme, will my package with them be ccancelled
  • I am two minds whether to cancel and reclaim from my Sentinel as I would like to retain the convenience of cancelling all my cards etc in one phone call.

Does anyone know of any product that is taking on this role from Sentinel without the useless insurance aspect.

    Thanks

    David
  • Thanks all got a refund! Yeah!
  • I am about to submit a claim to AISCHEME for mis selling by Sentinel Gold on their Card Protection Product. I understand that as soon as my claim is submitted my protection through the S G Product is cancelled. AI inform me that it can take up to 8 weeks to process my claim, during which time my cards are not protected. How can I take out new cover for my cards. Sentinel Gold are not interested & cannot offer any help or guidance. I am hoping that someone can give me advice. It strikes me that there is a flaw in the claims system if one is automatically left without cover. This must affect many others, so an answer on the Forum could help many of us. Many Thanks & Best Regards Alf Goodchild

What sort of cover do you actually want?

Followed the advice which initiated on MSE and completed the A1 claims form using this sites templates and yesterday received a payment of £417.21. This was based on refund of £320 in premiums plus the generous 8% interest.

I submitted my claim the week before Christmas so all in all it took around the 8 weeks A1 state in their literature to process. I called them once during this period and after I received a reminder letter to claim. The gentleman who answered the phone was polite and could tell me the status of my claim.

Very happy with the outcome and a big thank you to MSE for highlighting this issue.

    A few comments to make to others who have posted;

    1. Given that your are getting a FULL refund of your premium going back many years surely no wonder that Sentinal are cancelling your policy and not offering the other benefits of the policy (such as one call to cancel multiple cards, contributing to locksmith for lost keys etc). You can't really expect to claim all your money back and still receive their services, can you? You can't have it both ways,

    2. The breakdown of your payment can be found by turning over the page of your letter, the one with the cheque on the bottom. I'm surprised by those who have questioned the breakdown of the amount received but acknowledge receiving the letter with the cheque. Turn the page over!

    3. I first took Sentinal out (via a RBS credit card) back in August 2002. For a few who seem unhappy with a full refund+interest dating back nearly 11 full years and want to claim further amounts...when do you draw the line? I actually have all the paperwork going back to when I first took out the product (sad, but helpful) and in those early years the premiums seemed to be much lower. For mine it was £12 the first year then £16 between 2003 and 2007. It was only in 2008 when they added extra bits to the policy that it went up to £30 (and to £32 in 2011) on mine. I don't consider it worth ambulance chasing for more money pre 2005. It's a much smaller amount and given that there were some other benefits to this policy which I could have utilised over the years if I had to, I think personally I have had a good result. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Happy with my outcome. Good luck to all those who are making a claim and receiving positive results.

Another big thank you to MSE.

Yes, they only refund the amount actually paid. A few posters here have been calculating their redress using only the most current rate charged, which they clearly did not pay for the whole of the period which they held the policy.

Wise words, thanks for posting them...:T
  • :)I just wanted to thank Martin for enabling me to achieve a compensation claim payment of £118.35. Without doubt the detailed guide sheets provided within your website allowed me to understand and complete the claim forms in sufficient detail to ensure the success of getting the refund.

I have just received a cheque for £257 from the above scheme, I would not have bothered if I had not seen the Martin Lewis show. I had thrown my letter away, quick simple phone call produced another form and it was easy to fill in.
    Thank you.
