Clearly, the IPO is not going to be priced as a screaming bargain. Exponent want to get their money back to take a profit and return proceeds to their investors in line with their strategy but are presumably not desperate, they are not a 'forced seller' like RBS selling Direct Line, or Lloyds selling TSB, or UK selling Royal Mail etc who need to price low to get the confidence of retail investors for later tranches.
But just because something is not a blatantly obvious screaming bargain that all the politicians are saying has been priced too low (a la Royal Mail), doesn't mean there is no value in it. Sure, 'this ipo may not be very good'. But it might be. You don't know what the final IPO price will be or how it will be received or how the company will be performing or valued in a week, a month, a year, five, ten. In that respect it is much like buying into any other single listed company. You might make money or you might not.0 -
As a real amateur Investor, I found it is difficult to do research on these IPOs and these articles really help me to get some idea(no matter right or wrong).
Up to now, this is the only analysis I found on hss ipo and it will be really good if someone can find some other articles so we have more views.0 -
Bowlhead makes a good point -but it is worryingly 'quiet' on the HSS front.
We'll see - no broker makes any money if the IPO is a 'flop' so it "should" be reasonably priced.
daxu - HSS is closed for retail investors now - so if you're not in it, your out of it! ;-)0 -
Gkerr- City a.m. said in the early hours of this morning that they understood they found enough support to cover the book last night but still bookrunning in U.S. , so likely to be over the 210p minimum.
Conditional dealing is timetabled for tomorrow and unconditional from Monday, per previous announcements. How "noisy" do you expect it to be during this period..?0 -
First time investing
Taking a chance, do I stay in long or get out quick ?
I have invested in this ipo, hoping for returns haha.
From what I have read it sounds good with prospects for longterm growth, it has 5% marketshare.... looked at similar companies and definetly could be a good buy.
I hope so I put my life savings into it --- better than betting on bet365 i guess
*Conditional dealing is timetabled for tomorrow and unconditional from Monday
**what does unconditional dealing mean /?0 -

by noisy, i simply mean there isn't a lot of discussion about it - here and on other forums i use. There's usually a bit more "Who's in" discussions, even if there are people saying 'no', at least it is generating interest - i know this isn't s definitive metric to measure interest in an IPO, but i makes me wonder.0 -

if you are serious - then, honestly, if it opens a few % up just take it and bank the money - consider you've made a savings account annual interest in a few days.
IPO's are fun for me cos i can afford to lose the 'stake' (although i usually make a few quid) but they are no place for "life savings" (and usually i am the one with the "high risk strategy" on this board!0
