The OP asked what everyone thought her chances of being sacked was....TELL IT01 has responded and given their reason as to why ...in their opinion.
Not every reply is going to come with hearts and kisses.

I guess my own personal standards are, I speak to people on the internet the same way I speak to people in real life.

If the poster spoke to the OP in real life, not knowing her, as he did above, then one would conclude he/she is likely a sociopath, that's why I made the comment.

But sure, I understand where you're coming from. :)
  • To clarify, because if am confused...

    - You work Monday to Friday in two jobs.
    - Job 1 gave you Monday and Tuesday off on holiday.
    - You worked job 2 on Wednesday.
    - You were supposed to work job 2 on Thursday but took emergency dependant leave to arrange care for your daughter at a&e and then with her father at 3pm. You did not go to work after her father took over but could and should have done. Instead, you went on holiday.
    - You were supposed to work job 2 on Friday as you had been refused leave. You did not go to work as you were on holiday but work thought you were still caring for your daughter.

My suggestion would be to attend the meeting when it is arranged explain calmly and clearly what happened (as above if that is correct), apologise, acknowledge it was wrong, accept you made a big mistake and demonstrated poor judgement. Then remind them of your unblemished record, times when you have done extra, covered for others, come in at short notice etc.... Hope that they accept your mitigation plea - it appears to be all you have.

As an aside, Facebook is dangerous and there is no point getting defensive or arguing they should not have seen it. It does not really matter how they found out, just that they did.
  • Tbh I don't think that all the grovelling in the world won't save OP.

Look at it this way .....OP decides to take the day off even though she was refused leave. So if they allow her to keep her job then what message does that send out to other employees?
  • OP talking from experience (ive had 1000's of admissions over my lifetime) I can 99.9% surely tell you that your daughter would have had an admissions slip and GP letter (including diagnosis any medication prescribed during her stay the yellow copy of the ambulance forms and her OBS chart) given to her by the hospital A&E staff on her discharge to give directly to her GP surgery.

If NOT and this is rare, as they always do every time I have been in anyways, then your daughter can obtain a copy of her medical report of that days admission upon request for a small charge (usually no more than Data protection admin charge of no more than £10) by signing a patient confidentiality release form at the GP surgery.
From what you describe you have requested a whole hard copy of her medical file that costs £50.00 to administer from the hospital and can take upto 30 days to compile!.

I suggest you take your daughter to the daughter to the GP's surgery Monday and request the admission sheets from that day and pay the admin charge.

this will prove Thursday morning, but doesn't abscond you from the thurs afternoon into friday when you weren't permitted to have time off.

it MAY put a little bit of credibility to your case, but overall I think its better that you also pull out your employment contract and employee handbook, and spend a little to get a union rep on the case and hand them your employment contract to peer over to see if your limited by such social media clauses.

I would be writing down key strong points of BOTH your jobs with the council, and that your employment record is clean and that you made a bad judgment call to ignore the employers request.

TBH the council will have to weigh up that if they sack you, how much will it cost them to replace you in both roles, to them it maybe a non viable solution as they will have to retrain and advertise, interview and look for two people and thus spending out on 2 salaries rather than keep you and pay you a single salary in both roles.

just to add i had a similar(ish) thing last may when my son had to be attended to by paramedics and was taken to hospital and my work required proof. i don't know if it always works the same way but i contacted london ambulance service who sent me a form - i had to fill out his name, the date, location etc and the traced the report of the incident and sent it to me with the hospital report too from what happened when he got there, no charge. as i did it all via email it was with me in a matter of days.

The problem isn't the OP proving her daughter was seen in A&E but proving she accompanied her....There will be paperwork a plenty to prove the daughter was there but only at the most 3 stating who accompanied her.

Usually the info is taken at reception for walk ins...those arriving by ambulance obviously by pass reception and the information will then be taken by whoever triages the patient. The same question should also be asked by the ambulance crew but it's not always documented on their forms.
As the daughter was released 4 hours after arriving it doesn't seem they admitted her so patients are only usually sent on their way with a prescription if needed and an appointment card if an appointment has been made for a follow-up.

Getting paperwork from a hospital is a feat in itself but the report sent to the GP should contain the information the OP is after...

I was almost 100% sure I had blocked and made everything private.I could not cancel the trip because we would of lost out on £2000 and it was my fiance that mixed dates up with my non contract week.

Didn't mean you had to plaster it all over Facebook though.

The arrogance of some people is astounding....Why do they think anyone will care what the hotel room looked like. Enjoy the experience without feeling the need to share it with the world.

It's hard to follow the time line of when the OP was supposed to be at work and what days she had off.

If you were away on holiday on a day when you your holiday / unpaid leave had been refused be prepared to answer the following question.

If your daughter had not fallen ill would you still have gone away on the holiday and if so what would you have said to work when you called in to explain why you were away?

If you were away on when you were supposed to be at work they will use this question (Quite rightly) to cut to the chase.

yes, ignore the daughter question because on the Thursday you left her at 3pm to go on the flight.

So you'd have taken the day off work anyway (or left at lunchtime).

You can only appologise, say you panicked and made a bad decision after the holiday was not approved. Most people would have disputed the decision to be allowed holiday if they had something booked as no one wants to lose a 2k holiday (and offered to do much overtime or just begged and grovelled)
