  • That's OK. :)

If you are sure that you are a good worker, (and I am sure you are,) and you haven't screwed up before, then there is a very good chance that you won't be sacked.

Be prepared for a bum-kicking though, and for them to be VERY cross with you, and as I said before (and as a few others have said,) grovel and let them know how sorry you are.

Given the fact it was only one day, and it's not exactly the offence of the decade, I would be surprised if they sacked you.

I don't want to build your hopes up, but to be fair, you sound genuinely contrite... If I was your boss, and I was reading this, I would give you another chance. :o

I wish you well, I have a reasonably good feeling about it, and PLEASE let us know what happens.

(P.S. As people above have said, you should be able to prove you took your daughter to A & E too.)

I will keep you updated. Regarding A&E I rang and I have to fill out an application form and pay £50. However this only releases her medical records and not that I accompanied her

All very well and good except the op didn't take her daughter to hospital, unless I've misunderstood events.

    Who did you ring...
It's your daughter that needs to speak to the doctors surgery... every surgery provides copies of individual letters etc some do it free and some charge a few pence to cover the cost of the photocopy..
Meant to also add A & E reports should also who accompanied the patient...if it doesn't surely by providing the report and a copy of your flight details should help them make a more informed decision for the Thursday...

Yes my daughter rang the Gp surgery first and then spoke to the legal department on a&e and all they did was email her an application form

Never seen or heard of a surgery that refuses a patient a copy of letters or report..Apart from anything else it's a whole lot less work for the GP and admin staff than getting a set of notes prepared..
She can speak to the Practice Manager who should sort a copy of the report out.

Can't add much to what has already been said. Go to the tribunal and let them know you're sorry, and gather what evidence you can to back up your daughter going to hospital.

What I would be asking though is 'who grassed me up?'

If your photos on facebook were set to 'friends only' as you said, then someone you know, (and who is probably on your 'friends' list,) must have alerted your employer to the fact that you had been on holiday, when you should have been at work, and had already had been refused.

Someone who knows that you had been refused your leave and took it anyway, must have grassed, because your works seem to have found out and somehow been privy to your facebook photos. If they were set to 'private,' how did they get them?

So I would start looking at who you told the story to, that you couldn't get your leave, but you're going anyway.

    Just a thought.

    Hope everything goes well though.

Sorry but you only have yourself to blame for being in this situation. You lied in order to get the day off and then were utterly stupid to post information on Facebook about what you were actually doing.
It is gross misconduct and you are highly likely to be dismissed.

I'm sorry, but what is the purpose of your self-righteous post?

And I've obviously missed it where she blamed other people, could you quote it for me?

The OP asked what everyone thought her chances of being sacked was....TELL IT01 has responded and given their reason as to why ...in their opinion.

OP, if you had something like private medical insurance then you would just take a form to the hospital and they would enter the admission and discharge dates and stamp the hospital stamp. Therer is no charge for this. So no reason why they will not do it; say you need it for insurance purposes. I would speak with admissions rather than A & E.
The person that said UNISON may let you back pay for three months - highly unlikely as you are asking the Branch Secretary to lie. To represent you when you were not a member could put the union in legal jeopardy if it went to tribunal.
I am a Unison Branch Secretary. What I would do if you came to me, was as follows. I would jioin you up and from that moment I can give you advice but not represent you. So in effect I would tell you what to do and say, but you would be saying it on your own.
I wish you the best, OP.

If she had private medical insurance for a daughter the admission and discharge date only would be useless....she needs to provide proof she attended with her daughter... that's why she needs a copy of the A & E report.
Just to add.....it's the OPs daughter that has to do the chasing up for any potential medical proof.
