Were you on the trip or were you home with your sick daughter?0 -
Can you not try and explain this away to employers now? Say have learnt from it, was a different person back the etc? Or maybe sufficient time has passed that maybe you could you could embellish your C.V slightly and say you were working elsewhere, for yourself etc?
I gave up looking for a real job, I have a zero hours contract and I pick up some temp work as well to keep me ticking over.
I'm looking to draw one of my pensions in April.0 -
This gets worse - your daughter was ill enough to need an ambulance, but a few hours later you left her with her dad so you could go on holiday?
I'd leave out the whole daughter story - it makes you look worse!0 -

So... I'm a little confused as to the timeline...
Let me lay it out hypothetically.
You ask for a day off in advance. The boss says no.
On the day, your daughter is then taken into hospital early that morning and you phone in, tell them, and don't go to work.
At 3pm you go on holiday and post it on Facebook where your boss found it.
So I assume it was between 3pm and 5pm that you should have been in work?
Or did you go away for a few days and say you were looking after your daughter the whole time?
Did you also post on Facebook how worried you were about your daughter/ her and you being in hospital? That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Personally OP, I wouldn't get dragged into justifying this to people who are just trying to judge you.
Some of them are not even offering advice, they're just holding Kangaroo court.0 -

Personally I think the line the op should take will depend entirely on the amount of time she was awol.
If it was the one day, after 3pm, and if she was with her daughter in hospital until 3pm, its a little different from taking a week. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Your daughter was ill enough to need an ambulance - no contact order prohibits you from being there in such a situation.
You chose to leave your daughter when she was very unwell - or was she not really that unwell so it was fine for you to go away?0 -

Work gave me wednesday off but not friday, which was when i was to land. I was going to go work on thursday as normal but she fell sick and I had to go to hospital with her as her father was working at the time, this is when I rang my work. As I needed friday off I said I had to look after her on friday as well because I was panicked they didn't give me two days unpaid leave.
No i didn't post anything on facebook until friday night which was my birthday.
So you left for your holiday on thursday at 3pm, and told work you were still looking after your daughter on friday?
Is it plausible that your Facebook post could imply you flew out friday evening? That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I am preparing to be dismissed because I completely accept I was in the wrong, but I don't know what i will do because being dismissed from this job will mean i am dismissed from my other one. (both in the council).
The best advice you've been given on here is to i) seek professional advice, and ii) be completely honest with you management. Getting sucked into the trolling is only going to make you feel worse (whilst making them feel better at one-upping a vulnerable stranger on the internet
)
I'm guessing the best you can hope they'll see this as a poor, momentary lapse of judgement (in an otherwise immaculate work history) and not sack you for gross misconduct.
Good luck.0
