The connection was reset

You don't mention which browser( I would guess Firefox) you are using, nor which O/S nr which antivirus you are using. It could be any of those , nor do you say if it is all sites, a few sites or just one site.0

Well 43dB attenuation should give a higher sync ....
http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php
The huge noise margin figure suggests that in fact it has gone negative and the router firmware can't display it properly.
2147483646 is 7FFFFFFE in hex and almost certainly means it is currently running at -2dB noise margin and is likely to resync.
You need to reboot it and check the noise margin straight after. I'm guessing it may well be 15dB (the highest default setting) which would account for the low sync. It is still not stable as evidenced by the negative margin and your connection was reset messages are because it is dropping sync.
The usual reason for that sort of issue is duff internal wiring - either badly done or more often because there is a non-isolated ringwire pickingg up RF noise. If you are using a plugin extensions for a phone then filter it at the master socket end. If you are using one for your router you'll need to rethink that for best results and avoid doing so. If there are hard wired extensions then disconnect the ring wire - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/socket.htm
If people read and acted on the info in that Kitz site there would be a lot less ADSLproblems.0 -

Win 7 Laptop
Should I be 'blaming' Plusnet, Firefox or Windows?
My AV is Avast - it's on quite a few sites at several random times ...0 -
It's nothing to do with your software - your line stats clearly show an issue - see my post above. Reboot the rooter and repost the stats immediately after that.0

Is that what you require?0 -
Yes. Your target margin is 9dB and the daytime resync is higher at 4.5Mbps which is probably about par for the course with that attenuation and target margin on plain ADSL. Given the probable frequent resyncs you are lucky that the DLM hasn't set your target margin higher reducing the dropouts but also reducing the speed.
Your download speed probably won't reflect the higher sync as the IP profile lags and you'll likely resync lower later in the day. Your earlier stats show a reasonably long uptime so once it resyncs lower it may stay up but the desperately low noise margin will probably cause many uncorrectable errors so you could still see the issue you originally reported.
The way forward is to sort out any internal wiring issues as I mentioned above. Once that is done you should see a reduction in your target margin over time and an increase in sync more in line with the Kitz estimate and a lot fewer dropouts.
Good Luck. Anything you don't understand about sorting out the internal wiring just ask.0 -

What about anything I don't understand about the rest of what you said?
We live in a newish house (2006)
The phone line comes into the corner of the loft into a junction box.
From here it goes (a) to our burglar alarm and (b) down to the cupboard under the stairs where we have the BT master socket
IIRC, last time we had 'speed issues' our sparky sent the connection down two pairs of wires to the master socket which seemed to speed things up
Will look at Kitz and get back to you0 -

Burglar alarm can cause issues, others on here are better qualified to advise you.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Yes Alarms need to be filtered too. Might be easier to say than do depending on how it was connected up.0
