Not surprised, Lloyds has MitM vulnerabilities, sadly your just another statistic, they are utterly irresponsible and need to be...

The alternative is that he is a witting mule and is doing it himself or has shared his account information with someone at school etc. (Or you or another family member)

And how as it put in/out - over the counter or electronic payments?

Lloyds (and all banks in fact) do say in their Terms & Conditions that they reserve the right to close an account with or without reason or "to protect their business interests". They've decided, due to the risk of fraud, they don't want to do any business with your son. That's more than fair.

The 60 day wait on the funds is usually a security hold to ensure any fraudulent monies in the account are picked up on and rectified before they give you the money.

How old is you son? I only ask as I thought child accounts you could only take out money that is actually in the account so can't go into negative balance/overdraft. Maybe I'm wrong.

Did they say after the 60 days he could open a new account with them or give another option? I remember reading an article in a magazine that said banks would close account they believed fraud was happening as if they froze the account it could be easily be reactivated by the fraudster but some banks will open new accounts for the victims to pay in benefits etc but with limited access until case is solved, as in can only withdraw money in person at the cashier desk.

If you have copies of his statements go thru them with him and highlight his transactions or not his to work out what is his actual money so after the 60days you will know how much is his. Also check your account just incase they took your details from your weekly transfers (small possibility).

Most credits were bank transfers from hacked accounts.
Then the money was transferred to the next account(s) in the ML chain.
Then the fraudulent transfers (deposits) have been reversed thus putting the account into red.
  • Moneysavvy35 - Does your son still have his U19 DEBIT CARD?

Are you 100% sure he has not fallen for the scam whereby perhaps for arguments sake he posted an unapropriate picture of himself to a''girl'' he may have ''met'' online and he/she blackmailed him to pass on his card details or even sending it to him/her?
He won't be the first to fall for this and won't be the last.

...the ones marked under PAY are ASDA, CEC, ASDA Petrol, CEC, ASDA, ESSO Orchard Wharf in that order...

That shouldn't be the case. You would expect these to be card transactions, in which case they would be listed under DEB (not PAY) and the last 4 digits would also appear in the description.

PAY definitely indicates cash withdrawals from the counter at the bank. Usually the description will include the branch name and sort code - unless somebody has been trying to hide something.

The left over could be the account holders commission. Quite typical in cases of amateur fraud/ml involving young account holders.

No, he is under 16 so he won't have any Internet Banking details.

What sort of fraud could it be with cash deposits and cash withdrawals or spending?

    Makes no sense to me.
