Would cctv footage of any over-the-counter txns be available?
op - As per #38[no comment frpm you yet], can your son prove time+location links [i.e. hopefully, school]at time of manual usage txns? That would give you some leverage re:new a/c.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

If your son has got money laundering mark against his name he'll have big trouble having any financial dealings for many years...they are very skittish about this, as you've experienced.
Do you have a credit union nearby? We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Yes my sons movements can be fully accounted for. Maybe I SHOULD ask them for CCTV evidence of these transactions.
Most of the deposits going in are recorded as faster payments. However there are 2 deposits made on 09/01/15 for £1560.00 & £574.00 on 12/01/2015.

These are shown as cashpoint withdrawls with a fee of £1.75 attached. They took out 2 lots of £251.75 one after the other.

Money laudering:eek:....gosh its just all to much really!0 -
CCTV evidence won't necessarily "clear" your sons name, allowing your account to be used even if you didn't physically pay the money in yourself amounts to the same thing.
If you are sure your son is the victim of acto then try and fight it but it will be very difficult to prove. http://www.experian.co.uk/assets/identity-and-fraud/whats-in-a-name-whitepaper.pdf

No,gab - but it will provide info./detail/timing and MAY help identify miscreants and method.
Anyone caught in this needs to eliminate implication, as well as establishing innocence.
op - you are already building a dossier. Keep bullet point summaries of all talk with Bank and at end of each meeting, agree it and have them countersign your record. Have a paper trail.

Who else has access to your/your son's post? It's a horrible thought but a lot of fraud gets committed by your nearest and dearest.moneysavvy35 wrote: »My son was only getting 4.00 per week then spending it on silly things like kfc, mcdonals and shops like that0 -
So what happened to the PIN that was posted to your (son's) address? How did your son manage to make those purchases if he didn't have a PIN?
No, I am not trying to protect the son. IMO he was a part of it - either willingly or was forced.0 -
How do you explain "£1560 Deposit (in) 09/01" and "£574.00 Deposit (12/01)" then?
Unless by "dodgy" you mean physically dirty/marked or even fake...
I don't think that a bank is the best place for laundering marked/fake money.
Illegitimately gained money (drug sales for instance) that is being put through an account to gain the appearance of legitimacy.
I can't think of a genuine reason for the pattern that's described unless the OP isn't telling us the truth, so there has to be some untoward reason behind it. As I'm not a criminal I don't know why they might do what they are doing, but if you have an explanation I'll be happy to hear it.0 -
No, I don't have an explanation.
That's why I don't say that it's a common procedure that wold have implied that I do know.
It makes no sense to deposit cash from drugs sales to a bank account only to withdraw it soon. However, the last big deposits hadn't been withdrawn, so it's possible that criminals had some other plans for this money.0
