How was the money leaving his account? And looking at those transactions, it looks like there was far more going in than out.

Ok so for instance on 09/0 1560.00 was 'put in' in High street exeter, then 251.75 was taken out twice, then 0.21 paid to tesco's, 1.99 to sams stores, 5.00 to DIR - all just say 'DEB' as type of payment.

Then they put in 574.00 on 12/01 from then onwards they just withdraw various amounts of cash using 'PAY' as type of payment, withdrawing over 1000.000 in one day from Asda.

When I first read the statement I thought maybe by accident they had merged my sons account with someone else's, as it does seem like a regular persons account, but nope the said the account had been cloned for fradulent activity. My thought is that its a lloyds worker but I don't know.

As you can tell its all very confusing.

I think there is a LLoyds rep on this forum. Hopefully they will pick this up and escalate your complaint.

Thanks Block10...I am going to see the bank manager tommorow, but he made it pretty clear, the decision was final!!

How do I flag this up to a lloyds rep?!

sorry to clog up this forum, I just want some help.

    "DEB" indicates debit card transactions.
    PAY are counter withdrawals.

If the funds were deposited from the high street exeter branch, what branch is listed for the withdrawals marked "PAY"?

Also does the last 4 digits of the card number appear in the description/details column of the statement for any of the transactions?

Edit the thread title to include "Lloyds" and I'm sure the rep will pick it up at some point.
  • he wouldn't put his card details in anywhere - he probably woudn't even know how
You really don't think very highly of your son's intelligence if he can't work out what "Please enter the long number from your debit card here" means.

This sounds more than just a simple hacking problem. All those transactions make it sound like somebody like somebody has full access to the account. I would ask your son if he's telling you the full truth.

It does indeed, but my son wouldnt have a clue about anything like this thats going on.

As much as some may think it dosen't sound right - it is what it is!! I understand you guys maybe trying to help by suggesting I ask him if he knows anything, but trust me - its the wrong route.

Why would someone put 1560 into an account, then withdraw most of it the same day? It really does sound like someone else's account. Its got random purchases like taxi fare, ping it payment for 0.1p its really strange....The bank have confirmed its a clone account - we had to bring our passports in today.

The one for high street exeter is marked as DEP, the ones marked under PAY are ASDA, CEC, ASDA Petrol, CEC, ASDA, ESSO Orchard Wharf in that order, (all transactions in one day) then you have DEP POINT entry for 574.00 but this does not state anything about where it was deposited.

Also does the last 4 digits of the card number appear in the description/details column of the statement for any of the transactions?

Yes the last 4 digit numbers are present on some transactions.

I have done that thank you.

It wouldn't surprise me if the smaller 1p and £1 payments were "testers" to see if the account would work without raising suspicions or to see if it was valid.

When I had fraud on my credit card (a Lloyds one as it happens) they did some small test transactions of varying amounts and then went in for the kill, buying a load of giftcards and petrol until my card limit was maxed out.

Yes it does sound simliar. But my son has nothing to lose. Hes not being asked to pay back any money. Its just the point that he has done nothing wrong yet he can't open a bank account with them, can't get access to his meagre funds - thats harsh for something not of his doing!!!

I'm not even botherd about the closing of the account - inconvenient yes but we'll just open another one someone else, its not the end of the world either, but its the principle.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment. I will happily answer any further questions, but Im sure your all bored with me going on, but I won't stop until this is sorted. You maybe thinking why is she doing all this..simply I just think its a liberty!!
