FaceTime is available on pretty much all Apple devices; iPod touch, iPad, iPhone and Mac.0 -

As long as its got the latest firmware you should.
Even better is if you have an Iphone and Ipad on the same Apple account and the same home network you can pass calls and iMessages over.
So if I get a call on the phone, and that's charging in the study, but I'm in the lounge on my iPad the phone call can be transferred over to the iPad using Wifi.0 -

Only the ones with camera's... It started with the iPhone 4 onwards on the phone side, and its not on the original Ipad which has no camera. Probably the same for any older iPod touch without camera too0 -
Thanks everyone.
Now for another question. When they are facetiming (usually their dad), can they both be looking at their own iPads while speaking to him, so effectively a three way conversation or will they have to share one (as they do at the moment when speaking to him on my phone)?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

No, Its akin to a phone in that its a 1:1 conversation. If you need multi way you need something like Skype.
You could of course have them both facing one iPad/ camera, ie both talking to the same iPad...0 -

This is what they do now on my phone, but honestly a 6 and 4 year girl trying to talk at the same time, I'm so worried about my phone getting smashed!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

It looks as though Skype only supports multi audio calls, not video on iPad.
Can I participate in a group video call?
You can participate in group video calls with audio only. You cannot start a group voice or video call.
