    Aren't ipads expandable? That's shocking.

I suppose apple don't want people getting the cheaper smaller storage devices then using an sd card. Very clever. Classic apple.

Yeah you have to make your choice upfront about what storage size you require.

Sort like the Nexus 9, 6 or 5 then or the Microsoft Surface.

If its so bad why have the others followed Apples lead and dropped SD card support on their products..

A serious oversight that may cost them dearly.

    Which surfaces aren't expandable?

I've looked at my phone in the settings bit and it says:-

    Storage = 12.6GB
    Available - 113MB

Guessing this means my phone is the 16GB one. That amount of storage should be fine for my girls.

And erm, thanks for everyone's comments on the headphones and stuff. :)

I'm not sure why it will cost them, non of the major competition have the ability to expand storage, given it was present in prior tablets and is now being dropped, it suggest people really don't need it, or at least are not willing to pay for it.

Surfaces are not expandable, surface PRO's have micro SD card slots.

If that is fine for needs then go for it. Looks like you have very little storage left on yours at the moment.

Are you sure? I thought that the original Surface came with card reader.

OP whatever you end up buying, get decent child cases for the tablets.
Have you checked to see if the apps that your girls play with are available on android or Windows tablets? Might save yourself a bit of cash if they are.

Looking at MS's doc your right, I was told in the past the SD slot was on pro only.

Does not change the fact that SD cards slots have been dropped on many devices, I guess Microsoft / Google get the crash data and diagnostics and see that the majority of users do not have a card in the slot so assume there is little demand.

So who is dropping sd card readers exactly?
