I wish you lived near me - I'd gladly pay you to sort out the front garden with me; Mr LW loathes gardening, and I'm scared to be out there alone; plus of course I'm not physically able to do any heavy work now.:oDustykitten wrote: »Half way through next door's garden and I feel so much better. Oh blimey, I don't envy you. In my experience, it's virtually impossible to write poetry to order; my best poems have just sort of come to me at 3am sort of times, been scribbled down, and just tidied up later. Good luck.:ocyclingyorkie wrote: »I'm stressing over the submissions for the Lifelong Learning course - I have to write 50 lines of poetry. Initial attempts are like herding cats or knitting soup - blooming impossible...
When you say "science", is it one aspect of it she's struggling with? I only ask because I used to switch off during Biology lessons, because the content made me feel nauseous (I even fainted a few times!) Eventually I dropped Biology completely, and did Physics-with-Chemistry for O Level (oh gods, that shows my age, doesn't it!)However I also had a phone call from one of DD's teachers asking me to go and see her before the options evening, now I know DD has been having issues with this particular teacher and is always coming home ranting and raving about her. I also know that she struggles with this particular subject - Science. So I went prepared to be standing my ground about there being a clash of personalities and although I know my DD can be mouthy none of the other teachers have a problem with her and to see what can be sorted out. Well that never really came up because it turns out that because DD is having issues with her she's not doing the work in class so she's got whole lessons where she's only written 2 lines. She's now got to catch all the work up and she has no idea what the lessons were about because she's just been switching off! So now she needs to bring a textbook home and work through stuff from scratch which is not the best way for her to learn but there's nothing else she can do. I'm fuming!
JTTOU Sorry, can't quote you, as I've used my allocation of quotes for this post.:o But I wanted to say, that visualisation is beautiful.:o Once I can get myself back onto something of an even keel, I want to get back seriously to "journeying" - it's a bit like visualisation, but you let someone - in my case always a four-footed someone - take you along with them.:o It's how I coped when I had MRI scans, I invoked Badger, who is used to tunnels and dark places, to guide me through.:o
That Frog I mentioned on Wednesday needs to be finished up - I just have the "back legs" to go now. But after three hours sat on the floor, I'd had more than enough, and decided to leave the remainder for today.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I need help from you lovely ladies
I am going to my cake club tomorrow and I am planning on cooking Diva's Aunt Sally's Apple Cake. But I have a problem, does anyone know what size cake tin the cake mix goes into? I have scoured through some of MSD's posts, but they are a bit upsetting especially as some of them have Toots replying etc.. Then I thought the ladies on here would know, so for those that have made her cake and remember her do you know what size tin please? Oh and how big is the cake, would it feed 10 slices or more?
Omg! I was just looking at that recipe (saved on my laptop)!!
Personally I just put it in whatever tin I have handy
I've done it in a loaf tin and a deep round tin which I guess is about 8 inch maybe. 0 -
Dusty hope it goes well at the hygienist - I hate going there too but think how gleaming you will be afterwards!
Thanks it was not too bad and they look so much better.
Dusty hope you are feeling a bit better today, hugs and love

Thanks, I do, probably because the sun is shining x I've never made the cake but tell us the quanties and I'm sure we can estimate the size, do you cook it in one tin?
Kittens fed, WM on, as the sun is shining I am going to get changed and go outside and give the cars a quick hoover out as DH washed 2 of them last weekend, DS1 can wash the other tomorrow. They were all gross. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Afternoon all
A slow start to the day - my GUAG got up and went wandering off
I have however
- remade the bed after DH stripped it
- put away the extra duvet as the house has warmed up now
- taught DH how to make a bit of leftover dhal soup go further by adding a tin of tomatoes
- taught DH how to shred red cabbage and onions in the food processor
- cleaned the bathroom thoroughly (including all the corners I've been missing in the dailies)
- cleaned our BR and the study from top to toe
- tidied downstairs
- written some emails
- made some phonecalls
- checked finances
I'll finish my coffee then get back to work. Still to do:
- finish red cabbage preparation and cook
- sort books and magazines in LR (the pile is tidy but getting too big!)
- dust all downstairs rooms
- clean ensuite throughly
- get spare bedroom ready for overnight guest tomorrow
- send photo-letters
- deal with more emails
- update DH's family tree from info in Christmas letters received - still on list
- think of an easy meal for tonight: sausage and chips, perhaps?
- get sausages out of freezer
- hospital visiting again this evening as I can't go tomorrow
Pigpen, your KH is a *!%&@*!!! Words fail me.
Hugs to all who need them x
Sticks from my BD to yours.
DH :A has done the washing up so there are a few spoons in the jar next to the hob.
I need chocolate......... [wanders off to find a choc truffle, 3 syns, from the freezer: I freeze them so that they last longer]0 -

How spooky...yes mine is on my laptop too. I thought it would be a lovely contribution to my cake club.Dustykitten wrote: »I've never made the cake but tell us the quanties and I'm sure we can estimate the size, do you cook it in one tin?
Dusty it's:
8oz self raising flour
4oz marg or butter
4oz castor sugar
8oz roughly chopped apples
4oz saltanas
juice of half a lemon (soak the apples in this once chopped)
2 med-large eggs
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
Hope this gives you an idea.. I was thinking of perhaps 23 inch tin.. All Diva says on the receipe is grease tin, preferably a push up tin. Oh and you cook it for 1 to 1 1/4 hours.if that gives you any guide.
Oh and the kittens sound hilarious Dusty, wonder if they are related to my ninja Kiwi. He's a terror - I didn't know a kitten could jump the height of french doors from nothing...he just jumps, hangs on and sits there for a bit before sliding down.
And why does my arm hurt more now than when it was broken..grr!! It's absolutely killing me now, the elbow seems to have healed well, just around it is very tender and the arm from there to my hand is a killer. Suppose it's the tendons now healing or not!!! Driving is interesting..can't go far though so I can only do short journeys to the shops or the farm.Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

DD2's fiance has just phoned in a terrible state. He has lost his job with no explanation. Flat purchase probably over. I am speechless.... What more c**p can happen to these 2? Dread to think how DD2 will react.:jFlylady and proud of it:j0

So sorry, CY. He deserves an explanation at the very least. Calming and supportive vibes to you all x0
-
So very sorry to hear that CY
Just about to vacuum and got delicates in the WM so mustn't forget them!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
So sorry CY, sending positive thoughts over
Have to agree with you LW, the konmarie method is not for me or my lot at all. Its bad enough getting them to decide on anything anyway with bringing the above.
Instead we are slowly but surely decluttering in our own way.
Just read about putting shoe boxes in drawers, if we did that they fill up with kids junk straight away. Along with the whole mam, whats wrong with you its clutter bin it! Or in the literal words of my youngest, drawers are for clothes, shoe boxes are for shoes. then would walk off in disgust and rearrange everything again.0
