Right-click on the task bar and choose Start Task Manager. Open the Processes tab, find chrome.exe, right click and choose End Process Tree. (If this doesn't call all instances of chrome.exe, do likewise for any the remain).

That didn't work for me but managed to get rid of google Greece in chrome by setting yahoo s it's search engine and if I do search and open google it comes up google uk now.

Everything still seems to be ok, I wonder why it changed by its self?

Am wondering if it has something to do with the new update on Chrome?
I had Google Uk as default search engine, and just today, it's changed to Google.com.cy (Cyprus). I've changed it back to Google UK now and all is well.
This doesn't explain why yours changed if you live in UK though.

    Hello bod1467

Everything is still ok.... why do you think it just went ok all of a sudden? Do you think all is ok now with laptop, no nasty bits lurking around? And new modem/router comes tomorrow so just go ahead and install it?

Thank you for all your help and everyone else.
