On Chrome. Couldn't get chrome to change it's homepage yesterday to google uk. Cant get it on firefox.

Isn't it the router or modem/cable that is doing this as laptop was ok on friends broadband?

Power down and unplug everything as detailed in post 284 when you go to bed and leave until morning. IP address will change hopefully.

I tried this before when trying to change ip address for different reasons and it didn't work.

I tried to connect via cable and modem earlier on but it wouldn't connect to the internet for some reason. I don't have the old router it was broken.

It's a few years since I last experienced Virgin cable but it used to be necessary to power down the modem if you connected a different device to it e.g. disconnected a router and connected a PC directly to the modem. There is no good reason that you can't connect a single device directly to the Virgin modem.

Is this a good idea? Is there anything else I can do?

Do you think that this is a logical suggestion?

This poster obviously has not bothered to read this thread.
