I also avoid Gay Fishing Horses, Jewish Yoga, Pet Related Wedding Cakes and international mummy sharks.
Umm just wondering what you have against 'Gay Fishing Horses'?
lol.
Seems a bit harsh that you avoid them. he he.
Couldn't help it sorry :-)Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0 -
I don't do comps involving social media because, like others have said, I don't want to clog up my friends' feed! 'Selfie' comps are out too as I'm terrible at posing for other people's photos, let alone taking a selfie!
Prizes I don't enter for:
*Stuff for babies, children, horses cats....dogs are in though!
*Books. I'm not really a reader these days. I blame the internet!
*Clothes. They probably look much nicer in the photos!
*Weddings (unless there are ones with the groom included...?)
*Family holidays
*Gym and personal training membership. I thought a prize was meant to be something nice, not a punishment!
*Holidays or hotel stays including tours and guided walks. I just want to relax on holiday!
*Diet products and supplements. Tried them before and my gut taught me a harsh lesson!
*'Win a year's supply of...' comps. What if I try it and don't like it, where am I going to put the other 51 weeks' worth?
*Adult "toys"...just no.0 -
Don't use Facebook or Twitter (or the others), so no social media comps for me. All this "Like" nonsense is ridiculous.
Don't like entry forms that ask too many questions - my name & phone / address should be all they need.
Only enter comps where I would like the prize and can accommodate it (except for the occasional one with a big prize I could sell easily).
Not interested in kids, holidays, spas, gym, photoshoots, foods, beauty products, fashion vouchers.
Would enter books / CDs / DVDs if I wanted them.
Wouldn't enter comps run by payday loans, Coca-Cola & companies not paying proper UK tax. Don't enter premium rate phone comps.
Best prize of all? Money I'm free to do what I want with!0 -
Tell me sax, are there any that you DO enter? :rotfl:
(Just because I'm pretty sure that list just about covers everything you could enter for!)
yes
but in relation to comps i usually enter for anything useful for myself or the kids.
i don't usually do chocolate, wine or beer comps as i don't like them and i try to avoid anything 'apple' as i'm not a sheep0 -
What a great thread!
I avoid comps aimed at students and children, wedding magazines, selfies, personal shopper wins, and gym membership competitions.
Various other types of competitions I also avoid, some of the rafflecopters want you to tick a zillion boxes and come back every day. All for the grand prize of a £10 Amazon voucher.
I don't mind putting in the effort as long as the prize is reasonable.0 -
Hang my head in shame. Yes I entered that Mac comp. I will put a huge sticker over the logo and install only open source software on it should I win. I enter most but avoid
payday loan company ones
older kids/teenagers
comps for baby stuff
music unless I've heard of the bandproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0 -
I always think if I was a fisher of carp, for example, and I bought the mags and I entered religiously and I never, ever won I'd be really fed up and probably a bit cross if I found out about the comping community.
I have a similar reaction when I see comps run by the gay media. I'm a big ole lezzer and I think 'poo, that prize should go to one of the readership' - in reality it will go to someone like me who comps as a hobby.
So like a lot of you I don't enter baby/pony/fishing/cd/dvd/ etc etc etc.
However - if mummyblogger was giving a 50" TV away then sure as ships my 'ethics' would fly out of the window.Comps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%
SEALED POT CHALLENGE MEMBER No. 428 2015 - £210.930 -
Nib Nibs!
Although that's not an ethical choice0
