Ethics? Pah!

Yes I agree on those ones too. Effort? I am not a slave. This mumsnet angry coffee is bringing me new perspective to Gransnet.
I should also mention my recent aversion to Apple products. Cement companies, pet companies, scrummy mummy blogs all often inappropriately wheeling one out because they know we can't afford them or hoping they might get one in return more likely. No matter how disconnected from their line of business they are! I need a new computer though desperately! Apple, if you're listening. I'll put Linux on it of course.
Amazing what lows I will sink to when desperate. I'm starting to think I have no ethics in truth.“We are not interested in the fact that the brain has the consistency of cold porridge.” - Alan Turing (1912-1954)0 -
bloggers
baby comps
ao.com (their adverts annoyed me so won't use them)
dvd's - does anyone NOT download (can't get more mse than that)
most 'fashion' clothing
anything to do with crafts, horses, fishing, weddings (unless jewellry)
anything fitness that involves running
cakes and anything to do with bloody cakes - no wonder the nation is so fat
anything more north than watford
and absolutly anything that will involve a 'selfie'
and any comps where you have to be under or over a certain age
Tell me sax, are there any that you DO enter? :rotfl:
(Just because I'm pretty sure that list just about covers everything you could enter for!)Thanks to all posters :A0 -
i'm getting picky in my old age, too
i avoid
weddings
kids
baby
mummy bloggers [or most bloggers, really]
international holidays
selfie comps and ones needing any type of photo apart from cats [ i can do those!]
DVDs and film merchandise [i don't watch films]
most comps that require you to set up an account and log in
loans/betting
double glazing and blinds
Reader's Digest [wouldn't touch that company with a barge pole .... ("who's got a barge pole?")]
dodgy clothes and jewellery [mostly 'designer' stuff that is awful]
horses
fishing
Ones that are obviously aimed at their readership [i.e. Jewish News/Yoga etc]
there is probably more ...
oh, there is:
instagram and twitter. don't understand the first, and cannot stand the second one cos thousands of people just retweet any old *beep*
i don't understand the obsession people have with Apple products, especially iPads0 -
I don't enter for:
Postal Entry / Text Competitions - I don't like spending too much on trying to win something
Purchase competitions - unless it's something I was going to purchase anyway
Hobbies I don't have - eg: equine/fishing apart from if it something hubby might like for camping like a chair/tent
Ones where you 'must be....' and i'm not. eg: some are for over 50/60's or kids must enter themselves
Baby stuff unless my sister is pregnant and asks me to try and win her something
Festivals/Gigs/Events - I'm not very able bodied. So unless the prize includes travel and accommodation I don't normally enter them
1D Merchandise - No thanks can't say I want a signed CD or a Poster or anything
Foreign Holidays - No passport here so I don;t enter unless they include everything travel, accommodation,spending money etc.. and only if the terms and conditions would allow me time to actually get a passport :-)Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0 -
There are only a few i won't enter, besides the ones with prizes i will never use. No point in those.
I won't enter anything run by a charity. I don't think it's fair. Unless it is a charity i do support and give money to. For example, i know Candis magazine have a lot of great prizes, but i don't buy the magazines and i think someone who does deserves to win them.
Only other ones are companies i detest. There was a twitter comp for money, i was going to enter but spotted it was from Wonga. And as much as i would love to take their money like they did to so many others, i won't give them the benfit of a follow.Book a week challenge: 11/52. Competitions won in 2021: 120 -
I also avoid Gay Fishing Horses, Jewish Yoga, Pet Related Wedding Cakes and international mummy sharks.0
-
I don't usually enter Books/DVDs/Blu Rays (Although I had a surprise win this week of a book!!??)
Also I never try to win wines glasses, spirits, wine etc. that someone has slapped a load of glitter over! I see a lot of these on facebook....
Adult toys! Say no more....
Food stuff where the prize is less than a month/year supply of - i.e One lucky follower will win 1 cereal bar....
There's probably a lot more than that but all I can think of at the mo!Debbie0 -
*Anything tacky
*Any comp's run by a business with a Z at the end..i.e Gitzy Bitz, screams cheap, tacky and chav
*Prizes that are a small box of chocolates like malteasers..why waste time, id rather just buy a box from the poundshop
*Obvious fake comps..new businesses giving away iPad's.. no thanks
*Blogger comps, esp the mummy ones already mentioned..why do they always love the products!0 -
I don't bother with....
* books (unless my children or I would want to read them),
* dvds (except horror as I love horror and the scarier the better!)
* cds (unless I like the band/group)
* holiday comps (they never fit in with the kids hols)
* festival/concert tickets
* many sweets and chocolate prizes (I don't eat them but may give them to a family member as a gift or my children)
* twitter comps
* l&s comps to win cheapie prizes like a jar of cooking sauce or a cheap handmade plaque!
* cheap fashion prizes (I hate cheap fashion shops -much prefer designer!)
* cheap handmade jewellery prizes (hate cheap tat and wear only silver or gold)
* meet and greets (there is no one I particularly want to meet except my future husband!)
* go live on air (wouldn't dare)
* conservatory prizes (don't want the spam)
* goodie bags (unless the items are anything decent)
* beer/lager (I only drink red or rose wine or spirits)
* weigh loss/fitness drugs (I am a size 0 so don't need to lose weight)
* comps run by bingo sites or betting sites (always spammy and I don't play bingo or bet!)
* gift card to spend at certain shopping centres (unless the train ticket to get there and back is a decent price then they are not worth entering)
* wedding prizes (unless I get a proposal!)
* meals out (rarely eat out)
* photos and selfies (I prefer to keep my private life private thank you very much!)
* shabby chic (hate shabby!)
* Gym membersips (I don't need to join a gym as I am skinny already)
* student prizes
* the massive rafflecopters where you have to follow 150 different bloggers or companies!
I am as picky with comping as I am with men!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0
