Halfords We Fit - Vent.

I know it's only a couple of quid but it was the principle
What principle?
It's obvious why they do a flat charge because if they charged by the minute people would complain saying it took too long. Cars change in design all the time so you can't do it that way as they'd constantly be having to look at every new car and how long it takes to change the bulb.
A car I use to own an old R reg Fiesta took ages to change the bulb, near 45 mins once as they fitting has other parts of the car in the way that ideally need to be removed. I tried it once as I said on my own, about 45 minutes and my hands looking like I've spent 4 hours trying to prune a pampas grass with my fingers! If I'd known about the Halfords service I would have bitten their arms off for £6.99 to change it.
As others have said, it's a bargain.0 -
It is expensive yes but it gets the part fitted in under 5 minutes, I had to replace a bulb a couple of years ago and tried doing it myself but took 20 minutes to do it so longer thgan getting Halfords to do it. I would have left it until the mot if it wasdue the same week the bulb was replaced but unfortunately the not isn't due until march.0

I never quibble about these things, I let the chauffeur do it while I sit in the back drinking grapes. It's bit more expensive than £16.99 but then getting people to do your work for you often is.It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0

Of course it's a rip off, Halfords are renowned for being expensive.
Yes, I understand some cars are more difficult than others when changing bulbs but a lot of cars are a doddle yet the price they charge doesn't reflect this.
eg, I can buy a bulb for my Mondeo for 50p in a motor factors yet same one in Halfords £3.99 and it's a cinch to fit yet they will do it for £6.99!
They're having a laugh.
I get by without ever using Halfords as they're a joke so I'd guess many others could do too. I'm surprised they're still in business actually.0 -

Thats your opinion, carry on laughing, I will use the service. More people like you, means less of a queue for me.
Glad the Mondeo is easy, the space avaiable in a Focus is rather less.0 -

What?! People are actually queueing up for this outrageous scam?
7 quid for a 5 minute bulb change would indicate the Halfords assistant is on £84 an hour! More like NMW!
What a hoot!:rotfl:0 -

Nothing wrong here IMO, they are there to make money.
There's making money and there's just plain taking the p.
Like what idiot would pay £2.50 for a cup of tea?0 -

I have and will again. But I expect I live in different circles to you.0 -

Complete rubbish, show me a link now to somewhere that does it cheaper. (you can't as it is the cheapest)
Try doing it on an old Ford Fiesta & I can guarantee you'll pay £6.99!0 -

I have a Getz and it failed a couple of MOTs on blown front side lights. From watching the mechanic trying to replace it it's not a job I would fancy doing. Its very tight in that area and not a lot of room for hands.
A good garage though as the bulb price was reasonable and the fitting was free even though it took him quite some time to do it.0
