I feel for you and we had the same situation twenty seven years ago moving 250 miles from one side of the country to the other with a toddler and a baby. What a nightmare! The buyers at the bottom of the chain(No 1 in chain) were £2k short to complete, it was a Friday and our van was packed and halfway down the M3 and we were sat in an empty house waiting for phone call to say our purchaser's money had arrived (No 2 in chain). We ended up putting our furniture in storage near where our new house was and went into a hotel and charged it to buyers. Luckily for us it was just the weekend though and we completed on the Monday. Took a while for them to pay up though. Hope it all sorts itself out on Wednesday.

But if you stopped unloading the van(s), then you wouldn't have to keep paying the guys to load them again.

The vans will be needed for other jobs, so the stuff can't just stay on the vans!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Gosh, what a horribly stressful turn of events. Are you able to do anything to try and relax at all? Checking in to a hotel/b&b sounds like it might be sensible - you'd have wifi, food, a gym, a tv etc.

That's why you put your stuff in storage - I'm not the first to suggest it.

Sounds like it will go through. I hope the OP keeps us updated on how they go about suing the non completers at the bottom.

Fingers crossed you get completed soon OP. Do keep us updated on any subsequent cost-reclaiming that goes on!

I feel sorry for everyone in the chain, but it must be extra stressful for those who work and only booked Friday off to move. What a huge inconvenience for a lot of people.
  • Well...if this is the sort of mess/unreliability/etc Duffhead at start of queue makes of buying a house, you can only imagine what a mess he is making of this organisation he is running.......

Now which one of us might like to apply for his job?
