I didn't know of that requirement (not being owned by a cat:rotfl:) but I can believe that catteries require that.0 -
Can you not put your stuff in storage until completion and stay in b&B prem inn type place local to the house/cat?
This would be the most sensible way to proceed given the information you have at the moment.
The money you are spending on Removal Company is throwing good after bad and is unlike to be compensated imo - hope i'm wrong, but a bit of clear thinking now will stop the rot.
I appreciate you are not the mover responsible, but you have to make reasonable decisions about this as you will only get reasonable recompense.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow though!0 -

My vet would board a pet without up to date vaccinations as they'd keep them in quarintine. They may insist you get them done at the same time though. I suspect most vets keep animals overnight for a variety of reasons that don't have their jabs.0 -
We have a few bits at home as we had to move back home because of the cats. So im afraid we do need removals to be able to offer vacant possession, also it would mean that we don't even have a bed or part of a sofa. We have gone without most things but you do need something to sit and sleep on and a few basics to eat with etc.
Ah, OK. Hadn't realised you need to keep rebooking them to ensure they are available to move stuff out of your current/old house on completion day.
If possible, I'd be tempted to get them to take the last of the furniture and buy an airbed to use for a few nights. Far from ideal but better than £1,300 a day in costs! Depends if you can get your 'stuff in the house' down to an amount that will then fit in the car when you need to leave. As a fellow cat owner, I know that may be tricky with cat carriers to contend with too!0 -

Duffhead has enough money that everyone could "take their share" to get what he owes them and he might or might not have enough left to buy another house if need be.
I mean the innocent parties, not everyone can keep coming up with this extra money....Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
I don't really understand why you are paying for storage and living in the house with no stuff. Why can you not store stuff in your own house?
If you're committed to storage, I think I'd be shoving everything in storage bar some clothes and the cats stuff (less than a car load). I'd then be staying in a hotel and either popping back to feed the cats or putting them in a cattery that has a quarantine bit or asking the vet if they'd board them. And seriously, get your cats vaccinated anyway!
It does sound awful though, but it also sounds like it is going to happen at some point and you don't need to be sleeping on the floor as you know you can re-claim costs.0 -
We were all on the understanding that we would move on the Monday so it was expected that we keep most stuff on the lorry over the weekend with the bare minimums at home. Removals rocked up Monday and were sent away again in the afternoon. Lorry needed elsewhere today so we could not get more stuff into their storage or do anything else.
Apparently the mortgage funds are now back, and the 17K did come in. The next Solicitor up the chain (who are buying my place) have insisted that the money all be sent to them today to ensure that no funny games from the bottom go on tomorrow. These have now been received so it does look like we will complete tomorrow.
It has come as a bit of a shock that the vendor that we are buying from (who has already vacated) is apparently insisting that we pay all his interest and breach of contract costs, legal expenses and other costs before he will complete. The rest of the chain will just take legal action on each other after, but it's a load more cash to pay out that was never on the cards. This move is breaking us emotionally and financially.0 -
I'm glad that you get to move into your new house. It has been such a pain for you. I think you need to speak to your solicitor about any costs as he will need to go to his to claim from you.
Good luck.0 -
Well good news that the money is in place.
How on earth does your vendor expect you to find this money? How much is it?
I would suggest that is unfair terms ... What does your solicitor say to it?0 -
Surely the person you're purchasing from can't refuse to complete on this basis? What does your contract say on the issue? I would be surprised that if it allows them to delay completion on this basis.
I would be speaking to solicitor and seeing if you can threaten them with a notice to complete (in addition to that issued down the chain already) and seeing if they like the idea of the further delayed chain becoming their responsibility.0
