  • What would happen to people who could not access this extra money I wonder

Are you talking about Duffhead or everyone in the queue?

Duffhead has enough money that everyone could "take their share" to get what he owes them and he might or might not have enough left to buy another house if need be.

I would be suing my buyer for costs should they not complete in a timely manner.

In most cases, if it is not their fault, they will sue down the chain till everyone pays or someone goes bust.
  • Apparently the 17K at the bottom of the chain is expected in today at some point.. (who on earth knows for sure ???) but unfortunately my buyers solicitor has returned the mortgage funds in accordance with there terms and conditions as it failed to complete so they are trying to get those funds back today.. in short I was told if all the planets line up and they are being honest at the bottom this time it could be today, if not it might be tomorrow etc etc.

Other problem is removals, if we don't let them know by 2pm we loose our slot tomorrow. But if we take a call on it by 2pm that we will be completing tomorrow and then fail to complete again it's another £1300 down the drain. They have work for the lorry at another branch you see and someone has to foot the bill for the guys loading our stuff back in driving here going back and unloading it again.

    The nightmare continues :(

You've gone quite a few days without any stuff, could you not just wait until you have move in and then book the movers for the day after? It will be annoying but at least it would save you £1300.

Agree with the above. You've managed without the stuff that's in storage for a few days. Get the keys, then book the van to come back as soon as it possibly can. You don't want to be spending £1k+ every day until completion, just in case you don't end up being able to recover your costs.

We have a few bits at home as we had to move back home because of the cats. So im afraid we do need removals to be able to offer vacant possession, also it would mean that we don't even have a bed or part of a sofa. We have gone without most things but you do need something to sit and sleep on and a few basics to eat with etc.

People usually pack a moving bag or load their car up with things that they cannot do without - maybe you could put a couple of plates, utensil, cat bowls, food etc in your car?
Do you have a bed to sleep on at the moment.
I get really bad back pain but I would definitely be prepared to sleep on the floor with a duvet than lose £1300.
Also, I would have thought that you might have difficulty claiming back the money if you keep doing this as they may see it as unreasonable costs.
If all else fails, could you stay in a hotel overnight?

What items do you have left at your current property? Even renting a van for a couple of days to put those items in would be cheaper I would have thought.

A night in an hotel would be cheaper than rebooking the Removal company if completion doesn't go ahead as anticipated.

You might have a better nights sleep too. :)

Might be difficult with their two cats though, unless they could go to stay in a cattery for a few days.
