Just back from Morrys and have spent £11.95 - sweet corn, tomatoes (again!!! eat them like sweets) apples, mushrooms, walnuts, celery, cauli and a newspaper.
Did pulled pork in apple juice in the slow cooker yesterday and sorry to say I cant really see what all the fuss is about. Its ok but nothing special imo We had it on rolls and served with wedges and salad, there has gone enough for 3 more meals for all of us gone into the freezer - no wonder my freezers never seem to empty.
Have a lovely weekend everyone although its raining where we are but still warm.

Wishus - the Mongolian beef sounds nice, may give it a go next month. Will use pak choi instead of peppers though.
    MARCH £62.38/250
  • Hello all. The last couple of days have been NSD (yay!) though yesterday we had free tickets to a concert so we splurged a bit and had dinner out which was £36 (and very tasty). Today we had a bit of a shop for fruit, bread and eggs and we will go out again either today or tomorrow for a bigger shop. This means in total we have spent £100.67. I fear we may go over our target, but we will see how we go :)

  • We're half-way through June already. I'm tempted to say I'd like to join in but I will lurk for the rest of the month and then officially join in July. If that's okay with you.

Hiya - look forward to you joining in. You can get ahead with a 'stock-take' and menu plan for July in the meantime ;)

Shopping today was Al*i = £24.24 and Morrys = £20.43 so a total of £44.67 added for the month.

This takes me up to a total of £121.59 but shouldn't need anything until next weekend, meaning that I will then have £78.41 for the last ten days. This should be more than doable :D

Hope you all having a super week-end

A spendy day - £30.49 at the vets, £3.89 in Asda, and £20.28 in Waitrose. Had £25.58 in vouchers to ease the pain, so lots of lovely fresh food in stock.

Tonight, we had a 'fish and chips' meal, with low-fat wedges, peas and the Birds Eye Lightly Dusted cod fillets, which are on cashback with Quidco and also have a 'try me free' offer on the pack. Very nice!

  • Good morning everyone.

Quick tot up of spends this week shows £22.77 (which also includes £3 on birthday card and wrapping paper) so total this month so far is £111.48.

Now trying to work out whether better to go to morries for the F&V, fresh bread, yogurts etc and risk other bits ending up in the trolley or just nip to the TescosXprs in the village and just get what I actually need but they don't do the tiger bread OH loves for his bacon sandwich! Decisions, decisions...

Today is meal plan day. I'm googling away like made to find some inspiration but I like the sound of that Mongolian beef! I'm starting to wonder if doing an online shop is really saving me money. Yes I can control the budget better and I write a list and just get what I need but I'm missing out on whoopsies. Sometimes I used to pick up mega bargains in morrisons but then again I also used to pick up a load of impulse buys!
On the plus side I was talking to a friend who has herself, hubby, 3 little ones and a teenage son at home about this challenge and she spends at least £250 a week on groceries! Bonkers!
