  • Just gone through and added up my receipts for Feb so far totalling $128.94. Lots of little shops over the last week, which also included buying in food to cater for guests on Sunday :)
Love people use things. The opposite never works.
  • Good morning guys :j

Last night I did the big shop in Mr M. It came in at £50.59 which will last us for two weeks (except the odd fresh bits). Got some good bargains aswell.
YS bread and rolls at 9p each. They've made their way to the freezer.
3 large boxes of cereal for £5
72 dishwasher tablets for £8. These will last us about 3 months.

Despite spending just under half the food budget already I do feel like I might hit target this month. The cupboards are full and we can make lots of tasty meals.

Off to eat some of my great deal cereal and a piece of YS toast now. I know how to live :rotfl:

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all
I'm off shopping in a bit. My budget for the week is £40, but as I've managed to get to the 3rd day of the week without spending, I will probably use the extra resource to put a few cans in the cupboards & a couple of items for the freezer that won't be on my meal plan, so a bit of a stock up. It's useful to make a bit of slack in the plan especially on such a short month.
Will be back to report later.

    Hello all,

Im in again this month with a budget of £250! Im going to continue working down the freezers/cupboards as much as possible...

I did a small shop yesterday so will dig out my receipt and update this shortly.... It is DS birthday this month so will have to see how I go but working down what I have should leave me with enough to have his birthday tea out... That's the plan anyway :)

  • I've yet to tally all the receipts for January. We have a tin to put the receipts in but DH keeps forgetting, so I will have to trawl through bank/credit card statements:mad:. So I will stick with £350 for the moment, until I get a clearer picture.

Haven't spent any more yesterday, but just popped on here to note that as I was using some Sainsbug's vegetable oil (£1.20 for 1L) to make some chapatis yesterday, I noticed the ingredients said "rapeseed oil". 100%!

... Now I have checked Sainsbugs website just and can't see 1L of "Rapeseed Oil" sold as rapeseed oil for any cheaper than £2! :rotfl:
    Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge budget £150, £90.14 spent in total - £59.86 remaining.
  • I'm making a chilli later and am using dried beans, not paying attention last night I think I just may have soaked a tad too many beans for the recipe *facepalm oh well I'll have to double the recipe and freeze the leftovers, ahem instead of 6 portions it will be 12

Off out in a minute to do another shop, hoping for an NSD tomorrow!

    I think you'll find all SM's veg oil are 100% rapeseed - certainly Mr T & A*da are.

It's another NSD for me today, so that is 3/4 days so far. Will need some shopping tomorrow, but hopefully not too much. Only have afew things on the list at the moment but need to check the mealplan to see whether I need to buy anything for this week's meals.

Will also check stocks in cupboards. Definitely not buying anything to go in the freezer - that's virtually full!
