  • if I can help with weight loss stuff, please shout up. I'm a SW consultant in my day (and night it seems!!) job.

Motivation going AWOL means your goals have got lost in the daily hubbub.
It can be useful to find a spare 15 minutes and write down all the reasons why losing weight is important to you, and find something coming up (Christmas is a good one), that you can focus on. Imagine what it'll be like having a Christmas at your ideal weight. Really make the image bright in your mind. This helps the long term desire feel as important as short term wants (chocolate, crisps etc). Keeps you on track.
Make a list of all the things that stop you losing weight (no time to plan, constantly surrounded by cakes, biscuits at work, saboteurs, no support from OH) then find a strategy to deal with each one, so you're prepared.
Congratulate yourself on each mini goal with a prezzie (not food) eg a pamper night - something to raise your self esteem.
And above all, if you're carrying any guilt about being overweight......forgive yourself once and for all. This is key to success.

And STAY to the meetings, whether they be WW or SW. Being with likeminded people is very motivational.

Your worth is not a function of how heavy you are!

    Happy slimming:)

  • Thanks Thistle, that is really helpful, last year Iost nearly three stone, but I had a family holiday and the thought of me in a swimsuit kept me focussed.

I like the idea of SW, but portion control is not one of my strong points, so I'm always put off SW from that point of view - any thoughts?

Sw is brilliant if you don't portion control! You can eat sooo much it's easy peasy. I just need to get back to group.

  • I should moan about the lack of receipt of money on here more, the money has just arrived from the family member! Whoop, slightly short at £90, but I'll take it, so another £90 off CC2 meaning that balance is now at £589.84..... so £89.85 to go in 25 days to get that under £500 which I soooooo want to do this month!

Then the end of that card is in sight!

The card is vanishing before your very eyes. What is your overall target date for it? You should put a big sign on the fridge with the date on!

I'd set the end of October initially and to be fair it will probably be that, as £500 next month is a tad too much for me to achieve with Christmas looming etc. That said I will try my absolute best to get rid of it after September payday. Always gets to this point and I want to fling the month in hand fund at it as having savings seems crazy to me when I'm trying to clear debt.

I need to prepare myself this time for the lack of excitement after clearing it and just switch focus to CC1 asap, I thought I'd be over the moon after clearing £58k, but I didn't :-(

    Waffling again - sorry!

Happy September everyone, always feels like a New Year for me now, more so than January - guess that comes from working academic years!

So lots of new plans and goals afoot. Not that many from a financial point of view as they are already pretty set out.

Last day before back to work, although I don't have to go in tomorrow - I am to clear a few things and should be home by lunchtime.

Today / tomorrow I need to:

    * ring dentist and get the money refunded for a filling they took without telling me! Still haven't had the filling done and probably won't until next year - so will just pay it at the time. Hate dentists so will go along with the temporary one that's in there for as long as I can!

    * pay for the wood that was delivered a few weeks back.

    * take meter readings and update my online account

    * turn up trousers for little man (last thing to get sorted before School)

    * pack up a fleabay parcel to post tomorrow and also pack up my wellies that have fallen apart, have complained to the company and they are giving a free exchange (not bad for wellies that are 12-18 months old)

Spent a lovely few minutes this morning watching bats in the back garden with little man. They were everywhere.

Without further ado, I'm off to take the meter reading!

Oooh forgot - got my first £3 from P-cone, just waiting for them to add my palpay address so that I can withdraw it! Lots of DD's gone out the account today as well, at least they are all working with the bank switch!

  • Meter reading done, parcels packaged and rang dentist and had a fab result - £135 being refunded to my bank account today! :j

So £100 off CC2 meaning that I've hit target quite unexpectedly! £489.84 now!

So of course, now my aim is to get under £400 this month, which means payoff by the end of September is a possibility!

The other £35 is split between £11 towards MFW, meaning I have another £50 to pay off the mortgage - will schedule a call from them asap so I can make this OP. OP stands at £657.43/£1000.

Month in hand up to £330 / £500 now

£8.77 towards the Christmas fund - that is at £40 now - need to get that to £50 to buy two gift cards for Christmas! (I have nearly all Christmas gifts, hence why the fund is soooo low!)

That leaves £5.23, £2.50 towards CC1 and £2.73 towards DH's CC which we used a little during August, but I've nearly got enough put aside to pay that off totally which we do whenever we use it!

1poll busy this morning and another YG survey done - £4.50 to payout now!

Still in PJ's here, both littlies declared it a PJ day - who am I to argue!
