On the vids, the most insightful and 'struck a chord' with me were Paul Kavanagh's words in video three.. When he pointed out that the first thing Scots did after the referendum was to 'vote Scottish unionist parties out of Westminster politics'... ( and we're just about there in Holyrood too if it goes as the polling shows )... Then take Scottish politics out of Westminster. Brillant summing up.

In my view, it's only a matter of time before the second happens independence referendum or not. It's all diverged so much in such a short period of time, it's difficult to see a road back. Or things continuing as they are with the SNP, and in fact Scottish Labour's views come to that... just simply ignored at Westminster.

I think the wholesale post referendum rejection of the 'auld' parties was wholly predictable. It can't have been easy for even a proud Unionist Scot, let alone a nationalist one to witness a vote for the continuance of the English financial comfort blanket. I don't see the current voting habits of Scots as a precursor to an inevitable vote for independence, more a preference borne out of bruised pride, that the SNP be the ones to spend and fight to protect the English subsidy.
The watery grins on the SNP benches when Cameron and then Osborne reminded everyone of the financial blackhole that would face Scots in the event of FFA or independence was telling.

I still often cry about it tbh ... it's something I won't ever get over, much much harder than losing my mum ... a loss of more than just identity ... but we carry on safe in the knowledge it will happen .. and we sit and eat popcorn whilst watching the unionists destroy themselves :)

So it's not all bad :)

Please tell us this is one of these 'jokes' that you like to write or at least that you'd been drinking heavily.

    Your accent has slipped BTW.

As for independence being inevitable...? That ship has sailed for another 30 years.

Ohhh hold on ... duh ... are you meaning the death of my mother ?

If so then my mother dying was a blessing ... it was a blessing to all of us but particularly her... she was seriously ill for 5 years the last 3 of which she was bed bound her body was covered in stage four necrotic wounds that were tracking ... she lived every day in agony for the last 2 years .. she waited and waited for a transplant but in the end wasn't well enough to get one ... I will not lie and say it didn't bother me her dying ... but it was a blessing for all ... mostly for her... she knew she was dying before the dr's told her and she made her peace ... she was ready and she wanted to die, she wanted the pain over .... she died her way and on her terms ... she may have lived in agony for a few years ... but she died well ... well as well as a person can die

Sorry never occurred to me that you would think otherwise and maybe understand that for some death is the best option when all else has failed and a person is in agony ... and I must admit I didn't think to say before about her illness or death

So no I do not joke about my mother's death ...

    Oh and I don't drink ;)

  • Meanwhile, in Spain....
The Catalan independence drive is causing hundreds of businesses to leave the region out of fear of political and legal instability.

So far this year, 683 companies have departed Catalonia – including the chain Derby Hotels, multinational Suez and agri-food giant Valls Companys – with many of them transferring to Madrid. Together the firms represent combined sales of over €1.5 billion.

According to ratings agency Axesor, 3,286 businesses have left Catalonia since 2012, when the separatist drive began gaining traction.

The drain does not come as a complete surprise, given that various business leaders had repeatedly warned about the risk of continuing down the path of unilateral independence.
