Ah, memories....... Wasn't it just an incredible time in Scotland. I've watched 2 parts and I'll watch the final one later.

There's so much that I'd forgotten, some of it painful to see again. Clackmannanshire. I'll never hear that word again without a feeling of dread :-(

I think Derek Bateman was correct that Yes were enthralled by the campaign and No just wanted it to end. I think his summing up of why we lost was pretty accurate too.

I agree, wee ginger dug is very dapper and speaks in a way ordinary people understand and can relate to. He made some great points.

It made me think again at the media slant during the ref and realise that our msm does not represent all of Scotland any more ( if it ever did) We've changed and become more aware & critical of what is reported.

I did like James Cook and I'm sorry he has taken a new job abroad but Nick Robinson was rightly criticised for his reporting.

One of my favourite clips from last year was the imperial masters. That wee guy was hysterical. The other was Dougie McLean and his flash mob singing Caledonia in Glasgow. Just beautiful.

    I'm feeling very nostalgic now.

I knew ( with an equal feeling of dread ) about 5 mins after 10pm that we'd lost. The £ rose and the betting odds went out.. but I waited up until Clackmannanshire... and that just confirmed it. I couldn't watch anymore.

On the vids, the most insightful and 'struck a chord' with me were Paul Kavanagh's words in video three.. When he pointed out that the first thing Scots did after the referendum was to 'vote Scottish unionist parties out of Westminster politics'... ( and we're just about there in Holyrood too if it goes as the polling shows )... Then take Scottish politics out of Westminster. Brillant summing up.

In my view, it's only a matter of time before the second happens independence referendum or not. It's all diverged so much in such a short period of time, it's difficult to see a road back. Or things continuing as they are with the SNP, and in fact Scottish Labour's views come to that... just simply ignored at Westminster.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

I made it till episode 2 before bubbling lol

Listening to Derek Bateman describe how he couldn't understand people voting no brought it home again ... that's exactly how I feel ... ad that wee lad with the Scotland flag that says bring on the austerity ... I've watched him so many times now ... and agree with him

Aye it brings back the memories ... and Paul does scrub up no bad at all :)

It was a horrid, horrid night for yessers. I knew when I saw the stalwart of our group with red eyes at the count it was over......ach, it was a loss of hope for change that still pains me. When people said it was like a bereavement I could relate. It consumed so many of us - still does I suppose by the very fact we still post and read on here and elsewhere.

I'll tune in to video 3 now but sleep is calling me so I might not see it through. Night all :)

I still often cry about it tbh ... it's something I won't ever get over, much much harder than losing my mum ... a loss of more than just identity ... but we carry on safe in the knowledge it will happen .. and we sit and eat popcorn whilst watching the unionists destroy themselves :)

So it's not all bad :)

And independence is coming whether you like it or not :)
  • And scotland will end up fracking whether you like it or not.

And will be a much poorer nation without Barnett whether you like it or not.

Still, you could always move back to Plymouth.

We won't need Barnett when we're independent ...
