There is a difference between the country of Scotland and the council area of Morningside ... just incase you didn't know
It's a logical argument known as reductio ad absurdum. If the people of Scotland feel they have a grievance because the MPs they vote for aren't in Government then why shouldn't the people of a city or a suburb or a street feel the same way?
Why does the cut-off lie with the political construct that is Scotland? There is nothing that defines Scotland in a geographical or other natural sense beyond a line on the map. Other lines on the map are also available.0

I would imagine the cut off would be with the country, say for a hypothetical example the whole of the UK was being run by the SNP I really dont think the English or the Welsh or Irish would be too happy ( and quite right too)0

If the UK had voted in the SNP then the rest would have to suck it up just as if the UK had voted in PC or UKIP or the Greens or any other minority party with strong pockets of support.
If the SNP had managed to end up running the country on the basis of a couple of million votes then, yes, I would imagine everyone else would be quote upset.0

but what if England, Wales and Ireland hadnt voted for the SNP but got them anyway ?0

if people of the UK voted for an SNP government , then yes they would be happy enough0

The Northern Irish haven't voted for a Labour or Tory Government in my lifetime yet the majority seem happy enough with that outcome.
The English have had Labour Governments foisted on them by the Scots yet manage to cope well enough.
It's just a vocal minority of Scots that seem upset that they don't always get the Government of the UK run by the people that minority voted for.0

how on earth have the English had a labour government foisted on them by the Scots?
how though do you think the English would feel having a SNP government foisted on them if they didnt vote for one ?0

I hate to be pedantic, but my post did actually reference 'April/May'... not the average throughout the year ( or that's what I would've said ). Bell's article duly appeared in the Guardian in Sept 13 wailing about how crap the Yes/SNP campaign was.
Well it wasn't quite so crap after he left it seems. I don't think he's gotten over that. He seems a little bitter ( oh and needs cash for his new project ). The BBC should offer him a job as a politics pundit asap. There's not enough anti-SNP commentators there yet.
 20 Mar–2 Apr TNS BMRB 30% 51%
 29 Apr–5 May Ipsos MORI/The Times 28% 57%
 19-22 Aug YouGov/Devo Plus 29% 59%
 21-27 Aug TNS BMRB 25% 47%
Well, if you use Wiki you will be aware there were also 3 polls in the same time frame you have quoted. 2 from Sunday Times and one from Daily Express showing NO leads of just 8%, 9% and 13% respectively. Amazing how you missed them.
Either way this is just a sideshow in an attempt to deflect the damage caused by a former policy adviser to Alex Salmond stating what everyone knew anyway. The SNP case for independence is dead in the water. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0

England almost always votes conservative. Times many England had a conservative majority of MP's but Scotland voted Labour so that's what we got. We've had a number of Scottish prime ministers too.
But we just accepted it as part of the democratic process. If I don't reply to your post,

The northern region is entitled to the same representation as Yorkshire.
Instead it gets more MPs per capita and higher block grant per capita.
The people there had an opportunity to become independent.
I don't know why they voted NO, probably because the majority have more brains and less self pity and inferiority complex than many on this board.
But roll on next May and we shall see : given the shocking way the scots have been treated recently, anything less that 99% SNP vote will be a failure.0
