Not sure of your aware or not Hamish ... but London isn't a country ... Scotland is .. I don't know .. I credit some people with being smart ...
What makes the country lines special? Please answer the question regarding the right of Edinburgh to split from Scotland and remain in UK if it voted for such. Does Catalonia have the right to split from Spain?
Edit: not sure why you're replying to Hamish0

Now you want a geography lesson ?
Listen gonna go just now as I don't have patience for this just now .. as I got called to Wales yesterday due to my mother having less than a week to live ... so need to get ready etc to drive down
Will pop in when I can and maybe answer simple geography questions ... but I doubt it0

Sorry just saw the Hamish bit there
My phone really is playing silly !!!!!!s today I thought it was Hamish that wrote the previous post
 Apologies Hamish
It's not up to me to decide what happens in Catalan ... I would leave that up to the Spanish and Catalonia to decide
Edinburgh isn't a country so can't really sand independence from Scotland
And there ended the geography lesson0

Well, if you use Wiki you will be aware there were also 3 polls in the same time frame you have quoted. 2 from Sunday Times and one from Daily Express showing NO leads of just 8%, 9% and 13% respectively. Amazing how you missed them.
Either way this is just a sideshow in an attempt to deflect the damage caused by a former policy adviser to Alex Salmond stating what everyone knew anyway. The SNP case for independence is dead in the water.
I didn't miss them. I was pointing out when Alex Bell left.. ( July ) and then when the Guardian article appeared ( Sept ). Both were after huge polling leads for No.
As long as the SNP get a majority in Holyrood. I doubt independence will be dead in the water for a while yet. But you're right. It is just a side show. Bell is looking for cash, and needs the publicity. It's hardly 'proof' of anything because one man on a struggling blog site says so. If that were the case I could post every article Wings writes as 'proof' too ( and lets face it, he gets more reads than most Scottish newspapers these days ).
The Eu referendum/Trident issues are likely to cause more damage than anything else. To the Union.
 Today
http://news.stv.tv/scotland-decides/news/1332757-support-among-scots-to-remain-in-eu-at-strongest-yet-poll-finds/An Ipsos MORI poll for STV News found on Wednesday that 65% of people in Scotland support staying in the institution, while 22% want to leave and 13% undecided. That number increases to 74% support for remaining in the institution when respondents who answered "don't know" are not included in the final calculation.
Either interpretation of the newly released figures show pro-EU support among Scots at its highest ever level recorded in a poll.

http://www.cityam.com/228710/the-uk-is-now-more-in-favour-of-leaving-the-euThe United Kingdom is now more in favour of leaving the European Union than remaining a member, according to a new poll. In the first poll conducted since Prime Minister David Cameron outlined his demands for EU treaty change, there has been an increase in support for leaving the EU, to 53 per cent, against 47 per cent who want to remain.
Alex Bell who ? It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0

The Scotland Bill pertains to Holyrood powers. The Scottish do indeed have a veto over that. The Scots vote for ~60 seats. They are no more going to be able to decide the Government than Londoners are who return ~70 MPs.
What do you expect? A Scottish veto over the UK Government?Scotland isn't irrelevant to Westminster, that's rubbish. The fact that the Secretary of State for Scotland is in the Cabinet and thus is in the inner circle of decision making for the UK as a whole as well as for Scotland tells us that.
Yes it is. David Mundell isn't there because he's anything special. He's only there because he's the only Tory left in Scotland.. by about 800 votes at that. He's Westminster's Tory in Scotland, not Scotland's Tory in Westminster. There's a difference. :cool:It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0

What exactly were the Scottish People hoping for that they haven't got? The Scottish Parliament has got a huge amount of extra powers with the large subsidy from London intact. It seems to me that you have the best of all worlds, given what you are after.
Most of the perceived virtues of independence without the grinding poverty and utter irrelevance.
Scottish politics not being reduced to arguing how best to mitigate Westminster policies would be a very good start. These new powers were supposed to be about changing things for the better. Not the SNP or any future Scottish Govt being held responsible financially for what's decided at UK level. But with limited powers to deal with them.
We've had EVEL. It's time for SVSL also, and rUK MP's not making up most of the MP's on the Scottish Affairs Committee either ( there are no Scots/Welsh/Irish on the EVEL equivalent ).. A vote regarding the Scotland Bill would start things off nicely. Lets see if what we've ended up with after the referendum really IS what Scots want in terms of 'powers'. And if it turns out not, then send it back and we'll all start again.
http://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/13944779.Scots__should_have_another_referendum_to_stay_in_the_UK_/John Curtice :- Asked how Scotland could be kept in the Union, he told peers: “I think you should be holding a referendum on the provisions of the Scotland Bill going through this place.”
The vote would force ”the public to engage on the issue,” he said.
He added: “The truth is that it is perfectly clear simply having held a referendum and having 55 per cent in favour of staying inside the UK has not done anything nothing to quell the debate.
“ If you want to try and cement Scotland’s place in the Union then the Unionist side has to stop apparently running away from facing the public and be willing take what you want to do and get a positive endorsement.”It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0
