No he said Salmond's 'campaign' was tired and tedious and that there was little evidence of it 'winning people over'. yet BetterTogether somehow managed to lose a 29 point lead from April/May 2013, until Sept 2014. The polls in May that year ( 2013) were showing 28% Yes, 57% No. Bell left in the July saying that the SNP's plans weren't radical enough.

And I don't know if you've noticed or not. But the independence campaign didn't actually end with the loss of the referendum.;)

I think you're being a tad selective with your facts (Unusual for you I know ;)). The average lead throughout 2013 was around 15% and the eventual result 11%.

See Wiki Scottish Referendum polls - won't link for some reason.
If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.

Alex Bell left in July 2013.. the polls in/April May, both of them showed 21% and 29% leads for No. I got my info from Wikipedia too. I hate to be pedantic, but my post did actually reference 'April/May'... not the average throughout the year ( or that's what I would've said ). Bell's article duly appeared in the Guardian in Sept 13 wailing about how crap the Yes/SNP campaign was.

Well it wasn't quite so crap after he left it seems. I don't think he's gotten over that. He seems a little bitter ( oh and needs cash for his new project ). The BBC should offer him a job as a politics pundit asap. There's not enough anti-SNP commentators there yet. ;)

    20 Mar–2 Apr TNS BMRB 30% 51%

    29 Apr–5 May Ipsos MORI/The Times 28% 57%

    19-22 Aug YouGov/Devo Plus 29% 59%

    21-27 Aug TNS BMRB 25% 47%
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

I haven't, I'm not actively involved in any groups at the moment so maybe that's why.

    Aye maybe :)

Seems there's plans afoot to start getting ready for number 2, think the plan is to be up and organised for when the time comes,

    Thanks for the points

I'm just trying to understand what the YOU mean by a fairer, more just society
I genuinely want to understand what you mean and what an independent scotland would do and how this is different from the UK as a whole.

Narrowing the ever increasing inequality would be a start. I'm all for business making good profits but when it's obscene amounts, billions of pounds while the people who help create the wealth are exploited then it's time for change. Not this may not be universal but ultimately greed will prevail over employees and fairness.

How do we do that, I'm really not sure but there are experts out there who do, they just need the green light from those in power. I don't claim an independent Scotland would make drastic changes but I hoped for a change to a system that's heavily weighed to favour big business.

Business will flee bla, bla, bla. Someone will fill the gap if money is to be made.

Interesting times ahead.....I personally don't think we will see another referendum within 4/5 years. But anything could happen depending on next years results.

Westminster policies starting to bite might well be a game changer.

I know I derailed the thread last night away from the main topic but government subsidy is such a contentious issue finding the right balance is so important.

It's not sustainable but neither is minimum wage/ minimum hours. No one as yet seems to have an idea that can't be easily dismissed as unworkable.

I don't think I phrased myself well. The point isn't so much that one person can work whatever hours they want. The point is that if lots of people want to go full time then more work will become available for full-timers.

Sorry Gen but this reply made me think of the Jackie Baille gaffe I posted a few pages back.

We find the hours and we make the hours and we take the hours and we create the hours..... Hope you know what I mean. :)

No me neither. I'm limited with involvement at the moment too.
