The IFS says it would be less that 8.4 million based on projections of just 100 million UK wide ( in January 2014 I don't know if they've revised things since then ). But at least Kezia was honest that it might raise 0. I doubt the press will have any such scruples with the headline grabbing.

so you think that after Independence, making scotland a more equal and fairer society will mean higher taxes on the 'ordinary ' people and not on the rich?
(except for the more borrowing of course)0 -
Why is it all going wrong for Nicola?
Ok, it's the Daily Mail. But it has the ring of authenticity running all the way through it.

Ah more wishful thinking from Mr Deerin. He really, really. REALLY wants it to be so... but alas.. 30,000 Scot's have a little more of a 'ring of authenticity' about them than a biased commentator from the Daily Mail. Imo Nicola Sturgeon is keeping her powder, very, dry until after May. She can be as 'radical' as she likes then if she gains a majority. Very sensibly, she's waiting to see if she does just that first. Chris Deerin is hoping she'll wreck her chances by going all out on something 'radical' that will possibly lose the SNP votes. 7 months out from an election ? Not.a.chance.:cool:Nicola Sturgeon is now the most loved person amongst Scots, according to a new poll The First Minister and leader of the SNP is the ‘most popular and widely appreciated living person’ among Scots, according to analysis by YouGov on around 30,000 Scots.
The researchers carried out the analysis over 5,000 famous faces, celebrities and public figures. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
I just read that daily fail ... what's that guy on ?
Admittedly I don't understand myself why Nicola is so popular, I'm putting it down to best of a bad bunch... but she really IS very popular0 -

She's associated with the unprecedented recent success of the SNP (positivity) and is all over the Scottish media (reach). The media coverage is also probably more positive than the 'everyone hates the SNP' gang try to make out.
It's the sort of thing politicians, celebrities etc will run focus groups on to assess the impact of their brand. Note Jeremy Corbyn at number 11 - this time last year people would have said who's he so it's important to recognise the misuse of the word popularity in the article. He's had a lot of media attention and has won something so his brand has developed - it's not the same as popularity.0 -

where does Nick Clegg come in the rankings : didn't he used to be popular?0 -

LOL... go and find some 'positive' coverage then recently from any of the Scottish newspapers. Apart from commentators scratching their heads wondering why since the SNP are so terrible...
In short they don't dare be too positive. And those that used to be, seem to have been reigned in since there was a slew of, er.. "redundancies" of senior staff and hacks at places like The Herald. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Don't forget that the reason Ms Sturgeon comes top is reach. While she is pretty popular, she has huge reach, probably due to being on the news pretty much every day.
That reach is what makes the difference in this table. Jeremy Clarkson is pretty roundly hated by the Scottish it would appear but he does well in the table due to high reach.0 -

Yougov is just really impressed by the fact that it's actually a politician topping the charts. Salmond hasn't done too badly either. On their website, YouGov said: “This is a remarkable feat for a politician – [Sturgeon] outperforms national treasures like David Attenborough and Judi Dench whose careers carry none of the risk for offense or division exemplified by electioneering.”
Daily Record is proclaiming today, for about the 4th time, 'Vow Delivered'..It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Ms Sturgeon is the opposite of David Attenborourgh: he is very well loved but has less reach than Ms S. Ms S is liked but has huge reach.
It would be interesting to see the same numbers for the UK with people that are always on the news like Mr Cameron, Pres Obama and Ch Merkel.0
