    Thanks for bringing up the oil;

Don't mention it. I doubt you'll thank me a second time but you are really very welcome.
    Two scenarios-
    1. Scotland as part of the UK (8.4% population, 10% spending) gets $10 per barrel - at $100 per barrel

    2. Scotland (not part of the UK, with oil price at $50) gets 90% of the revenue (geographical share), then $10 a barrel becomes $45

Unless the Scottish Government is going to nationalise BP, Shell and the rest of the companies operating in the North Sea than profits will go to shareholders of those companies not to the Scottish Government.

What the Scottish Government would get on independence is taxation on those revenues plus licence fees.

As BP etc. make a loss on getting oil from the North Sea they pay no tax plus they are accruing tax credits so they can offset current losses against future profits.

It's idiots like you that make me think that a two year period of fiscal independence is required prior to Scottish independence. Without that the flood of Scots heading south to use the English NHS would be overwhelming. Scottish people that want independence without poverty need the opportunity to change their minds for the sake of people living in the North of England.

So $45 is more than $10 (unless you went to school somewhere that didn't do good arithmetic)

Sorry to break this to you, but the oil doesn't belong to Scotland, it belongs to the oil companies, who spend quite a bit finding and bringing it to shore from under the ocean.

Current tax revenues are therefore very low. Just over £100m for Q1 2015 ~ or just over £20 per head.
If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.

It's very difficult to debate with butterfly minds who don't read / understand posts, so I'll keep this brief.

Previously I have my own outlook and all I got was blathering about entirely different issues; I emphasised that on the matter of "cross border dislike" there were those on both sides that disliked the other but made it clear that I thought the cult of dislike has a traditional basis in Scotland but not in England.

I also made it clear that I was British more than English. In previous posts I've also said that I dislike the prospect of being shunted into an allegiance that excludes Scotland.

How can I take seriously fluffy protestations of non-hatred when yet again I see a comment like this:

"Repulses" - the message is clear.

So does such a statement go hand in hand with repulsion of the Scots, English, Welsh and Irish, or does the mindset exclude the Scots with the venom reserved for the other countries, or just England?

You clearly didn't read the full thing ... the British flag repulses me ... not the English Welsh Irish or Scottish flags ... I like each country and it's people ... but as a collection no I don't like it ... but hey make it all about England again cause we all know only England is Britain ... or at least you think so when you connect England and only England to my hatred of the British flag

Your just not getting it at all ... shame really but hey your loss

    1. Yes there are SNP members that hate the English ... Nicola is trying g to weed them out but can only do so when they show their true colours
    2. I am not positive but I imagine it will be a similar % as the English that hate the Scottish ... so I reckon 1-1.5% or so
    3. I have not got a clue as to why England chooses not to have a party that wants the union break up but I can guess if you like ?

There that wasn't hard at all ... don't know why you got yer knockers in a twist answering mine but hey ho

Nothing is twisted and your answers are crap.

Never mind. One day you'll get independence for Scotland and you'll be very glad to live in England. Perhaps you'll even give up the Cod Celt thing.
